Summer 2017 non-mega transfer thread

Burton Albion midfielder Jackson Irvine has denied that he has spoken to Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion despite reports of a £1 million pound bid.

Irvine’s ten goals from midfield last season helped keep Burton in the Championship which has led to interest from a host of clubs. The Seagulls however have appeared as the most keen to add the Australian to their ranks in their debut season in the top flight.

Sheffield Wednesday’s hopes of signing Aston Villa’s Alan Hutton have been diminished after an Instagram post revealing he would be staying at the club.

The 32-year-old defender had a mixed time at Aston Villa, though he has excelled ever since they were relegated from the Premier League. He was one of the better performers as the Villains struggled to get to grips with the league and would end up earning a 12-month extension to his current deal.

But this recent good form from Hutton didn’t stop him from being linked with a move elsewhere this summer. Sheffield Wednesday are once again looking to improve their first team after missing out on promotion for the second season in a row, with the club looking to get an upgrade on current right-back Jack Hunt. The latest reports suggested they were looking to sign Hutton as an experienced player to help improve their back four, but it appears that this will not be happening.

The veteran defender posted his on his Instagram place that he would not be leaving with a message saying: “I am staying where I am :)”. Now it will be up to Wednesday to decide whether or not they are going to carry on with an approach for Hutton when it is clear that he wants to stay at Villa Park or if they want to move on another target. But for the former Tottenham Hotspur man, he will be hoping to concentrate on helping Villa to get promoted from the Sky Bet Championship.

We'd be smart to offer Burton a couple of million for Irvine because a box to box goalscoring midfielder like that would cost us something like +£4mill upto £10mill

The squad we have, the signing of Boyd and the more than posisble signing of Hanley cement us a top 6 spot. Presuming we have a bit of luck with injuries, and players play to their potential etc etc.

We are proven, so top 6 is a minimum. We need a couple of Snodgrass signings to take us to the next level, top 2. A front 4, firing, of Rhodes, Hooper, Boyd and Snodgrass would rip this division apart.

Spot on. A good start to the season and this could be party year.

Good point, although that means no FF ??? Playing devil's advocate, our strikers on paper are the best in the division by a long stretch. Whatever formation, whichever personnel we field, bottom line is we have to ensure the front two get quality, frequent service, which will see us perform much much better than last year.

Rumour from the Cardiff fans is that we're still in for Sean Morrison and we are going back in with a 2nd bid

Don't know why, Colin will probably want £30 million for him if judging off what he has quoted for the rest of his players.

Some will beg to differ but a hard case/man mountain type would give us something different at the back

Wouldn't be surprised if the Hutton post wasn't an agent tactic, to get villa and any buyers motivated.

Villa want shut, they'll be gutted if he's sat on their wage bill come Sept 1st.

Don't believe we've made any bid for him personally, I just don't see him fitting into carlos' energy and discipline approach.

Wolves looking at Kelechi Iheanacho. #WWFC

Wolves could be a real force this season.

It'll either be a dream or a nightmare there this season.

Lots of teams starting to get business done but another no news day for us...with the team at S6 saying they wanted to get business done EARLY I assumed we would have a few in ready for training this week and yet we haven't spent a penny. We particularly need to get our skates on in the defensive areas as this is where it takes time to onboard and assimilate new players into the unit.

Theres no way he will go to Wolves.  If I was Man City, I would keep him as he has unbelievable potential. Leicester are interested and apparently they have bid £20million for him.

However, Wolves are spending big and we obviously need to keep an eye out for them.
