We walked past the ones outside the chippy at four lanes

I thought flipping hell them taser guns are big at first

But they did say hello to my 4 and 5 year old. To which I said to my kids if they didn't behave they'd shoot them.

Strange how they walked back to the car how I wanted them to......

There were armed police in town for the half marathon. Also see them quite a bit in London.

Doesn't bother me other than thinking about the sad state of affairs behind why they are needed.

Not surprised really if they have watched four lions. Rubber dinghy rapids bro

SYP have a dreadful reputation that goes back long before the Hillsborough disaster. Letting SYP have armed police is asking for trouble. They'd probably use the guns for crowd control and say the crowd fired first.

Was in Westminster last week, noticed a lot now carrying SIGs. Has never bothered me, seeing armed Police, in fact I always find it quite reassuring. And I'd rather they carried them all the time, rather than just dished them out to some when things kick off - I think that's part been part of the problem historically.

Would NEVER want to see them inside grounds though - don't think that sends the right message.

I would have one stood there instead of the 4th official.

I have to say a couple of years ago I would have found it quite disconcerting. I remember going to Paris a couple of years ago just before the attacks and thinking wtf but after recent events I do find it reassuring.

Guns and civvies are an even worse mix.

Ever read about the SO 19 policeman in training......was a few years ago now but was posing in a mirror and pulling out his weapon (ooh her missus) pulled the trigger

and it was loaded :picnic: ricochet wounded himWTF:

Plenty of stories like that.

Moral of the story is if you go to the match don't take a table leg with you!

But I'm afraid they are necessary evil in this day and age. Make sure they're in front of you so you keep an eye on em.
