Getting in without paying

Recommended Posts

My uncle used to lift me over the turnstiles when i started going in the late 60`s so i got in for nowt. Many, many young kids got in the same way back then .

In the modern day  there is a local team who`s fans have found a clever way of getting in for next to nowt. They all buy kids tickets .

Years ago late 70s early 80s sneaked into millmoor through a broken fence to watch owls win 1-0 Rodger Wylde scored,  didnt have 80 pence to get in. Any similar stories?

Forgot to mention that I broke the fence, it was put together with chewing gum most likely

With Wednesday having no game one week I went to Curzon Ashton to tick off a new ground.

I arrived and walked up to the ground about 1pm where there was a kids training session on a 5-a-side pitch next to the stadium.

We asked this guy where we could get something to eat and drink and he pointed us to this door where all the kids were also going in and out of so we went in and found ourselves in the stadium and onto the terraces.

Feeling guilty I spent my admission fee on a programme, raffle ticket, beers and a pie :-/

I lived on Penistone Road as a kid. My best mate and I used to go to Hillsborough when there was a match on and wait until they opened the gates to let people out. They usually did that about 15 minutes before the end so we got to watch the last quarter of an hour for free.

Same method of entry, same era, but on dad's shoulders.

Climbed over a fence at Oakwell twice !! Used to get the x33 to Sheffield the footie special to Hillsborough then just after kick off climb over the wall by the toilets on the kop next to the South I was 14 and had little money,  just enough to get me there n back !! . Years later used to get freebies off a player now that's luxury for you !!
