Yep, we've been extremely lucky; we can't keep on winning playing like this, teams have sussed us out, not good enough, he's useless, he's overrated, they're all overpaid, Carlos hasn't got a Plan B, etc, etc..

Have we got some (or all?) of the most pessimistic fans in football?

:picnic:

The stats books will only show the above.

They don't show the blindingly obvious (at this point in time, to those who see) though, but....what is the point stating the blindingly obvious to people posting things such as this.

Putting things into context, Carlos has been about 12 pieces of luck away from losing his job this season.

#1 goals conceded

#1 clean sheets

#1 failed to score in

#1 games lost

#2 games won

#2 points in last 15

#2 goal difference

-6th in the table (best since relegation from PL)

-Carlos best win percentage of any manager in our history

-most season ticket owners since relegation from PL

-best chairman in our history (squad and facilities investment)

-arguably best front 5 outside of PL

-most international players since relegation from PL

-progression in final position year on year since promotion in 2012

Some of you will find negatives in that. Never mind.

Forgot to add..

-won our last 3 with top centre back, centre mid and centre forward out injured.

-won last 3 with no form and without hitting 2nd gear

-maybe best of all, our record signing scored on his home debut AND hand writes letters to children who support him!!

Up the chuffing owls.

8 clean sheets in 15, that's very impressive.

There's a few people think we've been lucky this season. Over the years "lucky" teams have almost always started out by being very hard to beat, frustrating the opposition, winning ugly, building confidence, creating an aura around themselves and going on to build from there. You can play and win with flair once you've earned the right.

Those other old 'uns on here will remember how Liverpool did that in the 1970's, and how over the years both Arsenal and Man Utd have learned to win first and become expansive later.  It might not be as pretty as people would like to see but from where I sit we're going in the right direction and at all levels of the club we're building some seriously solid foundations. It might not be this year - we'll soon see - but there's every reason to be optimistic.

Last season we might have played more attractive football but we seemed to come unstuck against the top teams and the teams at the bottom. We are definitely harder to beat this season and as long as we keep winnng games then we should all still back the manager. If we dont make the playoffs this year then we should have to assess which way we should go. UTO

Sounds like we're lucky to have such a 'lucky' coach, then!

:manager:

It's a funny thing, luck, isn't it? I think this quote best sums it up: "I am a great believer in luck. The harder I work, the more of it I seem to have."
