Forestieri mom for me. Worked his backside off, chased everything. Rhodes made space, great knock down for the goal. Very rusty but that is to be expected. Disappointed with pudil, thought fox deserved the nod after Tuesday night. Anyone know why he didn't make the squad?? Hunt had a stinker, and wish abdi would have come on much much sooner. Much needed three points, not a good win by any means but will take it. Wawaw

Westwood 7, solid

Hunt 3, very poor with and without ball

loovens 7

sasso 7, pleased, MOM for me given circumstances

pudil 5, leggy

Reach 6, worked hard but less good on ball than usual

Bannan 7, good on ball but still too good at looking like he's tackling when he ain't

Jones 5, put there to disrupt and did it, but nothing else

wallace 6, decent, still no cover for Hunt

Forestieri 7, ran himself ragged at took pressure off slightly dusty Rhodes, generous team display

Rhodes 6, isolated and limited threat last 25min but thrilled he can take part in buildup play

mcmanaman 6, looked lively but again not enough time on pitch

Abdi 6, ditto

Wondered same - saved for Brum? Longish gap though.

Forestieri     7 Put in a good shift

Semedo = ? too late to contribute

Hunt/Pudil/Jones = 5

Wallace/Abdi 6

Westwood/Sasso/Loovens/Reach/Forestieri/Rhodes/McManaman = 7

Bannon 7* (just MoM)

Wasn't pretty but it was a win & clean sheet

1st half we bossed it, moved ball quicker back to front

2nd half we took foot off gas and went slow slow steady steady slow - which encouraged Wigan to come at us

Both FBs were poor, nuff said, CM (Jones) lacks distribution & pace and exposed regularly, hurry back Sam!

Sasso nervy at start but got into it well as game progressed

Reach & Wallace had to track defensively cos of FBs inapptitude

Macca v positive when came on, Rhodes stretched their back 4 & him & Fessi looked quite good together for 1st time

BUT in the whole game we had 2 shots, yes 2 and none were on target - not good enough but strictly to the Gaffer's game plan sadly(!)

We've got the striking ability, gr8 offensive talent so why don't we utilise it???

UTO WAWAW now let's push on with next 2 games at home - gotta get 6 points and hammer goal difference

No way does Reach deserve the lowest grade of the match.  Jones and Hunt were abysmal.  Not up to grade.  Pudil nearly so.  Both were baited consistently by Morsy and fell for it everytime.

Sasso, the more I think about it, the more i'm impressed with his performance.  Loovens/Sasso for co-MOTM.  Assured stuff.

Westwood 6 nowt to do apart from when ff acted like a fanny in our box

hunt 4 palmer should be first choice right back. Shocking touches

loovens 7 calm and dependable

sasso 7.5 extra half point for ignoring Carlos instructions and daring to venture forward

Pudil 4 the bloke looks finished to me

Reach 4 shocking . Poor control and his one shot was embarrassing

bannan 4 god knows what the praise is for. Doesn't go forward, can't tackle , can't shoot .

Jones 2 pathetic

Wallace 5 extra point for attempting (and succeeding) to put the ball in the net

ff 6 felt sorry for him , tried his best despite the tactics.

Rhodes 5 pointless signing a striker like him when we sit passing about our back four. shoiod have been taken off instead of ff as was done in at the end.

semedo 10 dared to pass forward

mcmanaman 6 like Rhodes pointless signing ,  but would excel elsewhere

Im the one who voted for Jones. I thought he held his ground well, didn't fall back as the rest of the midfield did so our defence always had an out. He was left isolated too often by Bannan who was all over the place and not in a good carlton Palmeer like way. I thinķ a lot of these ratings are given on second half performances where as Jones was key to our surviving a woeful first half.

Westwood 7 not much to do, did it all very well

Hunt 5 really not sure why we have him

Sasso 6 now that sounds unfair doesnt it because he was excellent in the second half but he was woeful in the first. A 4 then an 8 so average at six

Loovens 7 solid

Pudil 4 is this really the same guy as last year?

Wallace 6 showed well but apart from the goal didnt offer much

Jones 7 see above

Bannan 5 gave the ball away, dropped too deep, offered little

Reach 6 showed well, acheived little

FF 6 worked hard achieved nothing

JR 6 thankless role with little support

McManaman 7 looked positive

That was absolute garbage and was frankly embarrassing to watch.

Westwood 7 - Not a great deal to do but as ever, called upon when needed

Hunt 1 - Worst player in the league. Why does Carlos keep playing him? Poor defensively and inept going forward.

Loovens 6 - The best of a poor back 4.

Sasso 4 - I can't believe how many of you think he had a good game! He is garbage - why Carlos brought him back is beyond me.

Pudil 4 - Not bad in the first half when the going was easy, but typically, as soon as they started to apply the pressure he looks out of his depth. This has been the story with him all season. Where the hell was Fox? And don't give me that "he played on Tuesday night" crap.

Wallace 5 - Gambled and got the goal so fair play for that. Other than that, pretty poor. I personally think he is a better impact player off of the bench.

Jones 2 - Absolutely appalling tonight. Use of the ball was dire. Why do we need to play this sort of player against such a poor side!?!? Symbolises the negative tactics.

Bannan 5 - Best of a poor midfield but I didn't think he did enough. He doesn't show for the ball enough and sits far too deep. Has the ability but needs to impose himself on a game more.

Reach 4 - All in all, poor again. He plays with his head down which results in little to no end product the majority of the time. I don't actually think he is a bad player, but he is shoehorned in week in, week out and is taking the place of FF who should be on the left. Reach should be battling it out with Fox for the LB position.

FF 5 - Worked hard but his touch has deserted him recently. Failed to execute simple passes at times. We need him to play deeper and get on the ball more. He is also one of our best tacklers so could do a great job on the left - just like last season.

Rhodes 7 - Worked extremely hard and won nearly every flick on. Fed off of scraps all night. Great header for the goal. Felt extremely sorry for him.

McManaman 7 - Makes things happen. Laid a lovely ball off for Reach (who's shot was pathetic) after great work in the corner. Should be starting,

Abdi 6 - A couple of steady touches but hard to assess really. Should be starting again in my opinion - drop Jones and let's try and dominate a game for a change.

Carols 1 - if he continues to be this stubborn then his tenure at S6 is only going to go one way. He has ripped away everything good about how we played last season. We are far too laboured on the ball and do not move it quick enough. He persists with players that aren't good enough and alienates some of the talent we have sat on the bean/in the reserves. He is obsessed with being defensive - we don't score anywhere near enough goals. It's been like this since October now - at the start of the season, the zip to our game was still there but we weren't taking chances. Now, we simply don't create anything. I cannot stand his excuses around playing twice in a week - EVERY OTHER CHAMPIONSHIP CLUB HAS TO DO THIS!!!!!!!! Hang your head in shame for last night's "performance" and thank the footballing Gods (who have been with you all season) that a deflected goal went for us and the linesman's flag went up (yet again) when the opposition deservedly stuck one in.
