wwood 6

hunt 4

sasso 5

loovy 6

pudil 4 and expected it, typical performance from the ageing left back, vulnerable at back, poor in possession.

Wallace 6 (4 but for his luck!)

jones 4 (another expensive ageing signing, cant run, well off pace, not even sure if better than semi!)

bannan 7 energy almost made up for jones

reach 4 (6 until switched to right mid then left back, 3 positions in 1 game wont help, never want to see him on right again)

fessi 5 no service but created little himself even though very capable of feeding rhodes

Rhodes 6 (as feared zero crosses and general service to work with but great assist, a reality check for him)

macca 6 (not in game much as we were against it, but showed positive intent despite serious lack of game time here,

as expected)

its a win etc but we've seen this kind of performance so many times,

carlos is now looking at best an average manager although a lucky

& very well financially backed one to be top 6.

not sure why reach was put on right and macca left when we needed width,

not more narrowness & cutting in.

the starting line up seriously lacked pace, energy and mobility.

we maybe tired for last 20 but that was a 4/10 performance and there's

no sign of the required improvement to get promoted or even make

play offs.

theres no excuse for these performances and luck will get

you only so far.

its time to start macca and attack from start, other teams start their

pacy/flair wingers and are easily beating poor teams like wigan/Bristol etc

get at least jones, pudil and maybe hunt out after that, we should

be creating more than 1 lucky shot come goal by now.

Do some people just feel like they have to say Bannan is good every week?

He doesn't actually do anything, to his credit he tries and works harder than anybody, but he actually offers very little of any use, its really becoming noticeable how much we're missing Kieran Lee

Sasso for me. A couple of dodgy moments early on, but got better as the game went on.

Also like the fact that when he has the ball at his feet he looks to go forward with it and not back to Westwood of stood to Loovens.

Jones was awful. Would have had Abdi in tonight.

So glad that we have Sam back next week.

Westwood 6, did what was needed, not tested.

Hunt,  6.5 - tried hard, good first half struggled second half. Took one for the team when left exposed.

Sasso, 8, didn't do much wrong, went forward a lot for a centre back. Much better player than people make out.

Loovens 7, Solid.

Pudil, 5, not the player he was last year

Bannan, 7, average for him, OK performance, definitely not MOM

Wallace, 7,  got his scoring boots back, 3 in 4 now.

Jones, 6, trying to do a Hutch, plenty of fouls not much else.

Reach, 8, MOM, Worked his socks off, some nice passing, getting better each game despite his detractors.

FF, 7, a few glimpses of his ability, one brilliant tackle back. On that performance I don't doubt his commitment, just didn't come off for him

Rhodes, 7,  Ran across the defender to the front post so many times only for the ball to be played to the back stick. His running off the ball was excellent. when the rest of the team learn where he wants the ball he will do well. Early days. Not sure him and FF complement each other.

McManaman, 6, brought on when we were under pressure, didn't influence the game.

Abdi , 10, for not getting injured.

Semedo, no rating

Reach MOM just ahead of Sasso.

Westwood - 7. Nothing to do. Reliable.

Hunt - 4. In poor form. Palmer better option at the moment

Pudil - 5. Still struggling to replicate the good form of last season.

Sasso - 7 - one of our more positive players  went forward whenever he could. Very sound performance for me.

Loovens - 7. Played well and helped the rest of his defence.

Jones - 5. Not at the races struggle to see how he was in the Burnley team so frequently.

Bannan - 7. Not at his best but he tried. Still struggling to get back to his best.

Wallace - 6. Did Ok but didn't put enough Into the box. Lucky goal but we'll take it!

Reach - 3 - poor. Macca is a better option. Everything just seems so clumsy. Needs to improve massively or be dropped.

Forestieri - 7. MOM. His passion and drive shone through.

Rhodes - 6. Did his best but understandably rusty.

McManaman - 6. Looked lively and is a better option for me than reach.

Abdi/semi - not long enough.

Awful performance but 3 points is all that matters.

Westwood - 7 Looked solid not much to do

Hunt - 5 Gets up and down the pitch well enough and deserves credit for a clean sheet but rarely has a great game we need better than him and palmer next season

Pudil - 5 Plays like a player who knows his legs are going still has quality but not the answer going forward this season or next

Sasso - 6 Decent performance defensively looked nervous on the ball trying to play with his right foot all the time(I think hes a lefty, hardly see him) as hes on the wrong side

Loovens - 7 still quality marshalls the defence well won all his battles

Jones - 5. Played well enough first half seemed to disappear second half

Bannan - 6 Solid if unspectacular sits to deep though which is not what we need when he at the side of another dm, lee link with the forwards and runs stops the strikers lookings so isolated

Wallace - 6. Decent enough never seems to be out wide though but cant argue with 3 goals in 4 games

Reach - 6 An erratic player every time he plays he seems to play well for a period then just goes to pot for a bit then gets moved to left back

Forestieri - 7 for effort alone made some vital tackles tracking back need to get him involved again up top though

Rhodes - 6 Did his job occupied their centre halfs and got an assist wont get many goals in our team unless we set up more attacking though

McManaman - 6 Not involved much had one good run and set reach up well who skied it

Abdi 5 Good to see him involved not quite enough time but hopefully he can contribute more going forwards

Semedo 5 Decent cameo but not on long

Westwood - 7, One really good save vs Morsey, but had little to do Wigan posed no real goal threat.

Hunt - 4, Woeful, lost the ball multiple times trying to hoof it down the line, far too weak tackling and his forward runs which are usually his strength were so ineffective, getting knocked of the ball and miscontroling everything.

Loovens - 7, Solid one big tackle on Grigg in the first half but looked assured at the back.

Sasso - 7, Gets a 7 for trying to be positive with the ball and make something happen, made 2 cracking tackles too, people that don't think he's good enough backup are clueless hasn't looked out of place at all this season.

Pudil - 5, Ineffective, but always a feisty tackler which provided some entertainment, barely got forward and was never troubled defensively.

Wallace - 5, Honestly didn't see him touch the ball for the first half, apart from when his shot took a horrible deflection to score, needs to go looking for the ball more.

Bannan - 5, Good energy as per but has to stop trying hollywood passes every time we get the ball, tonight him and Jones looked allergic to passing between themselves and spreading the play.

Jones - 4, Committed 5 fouls, lost the ball multiple times, offered nothing going forward and looked slow defensively. Against a better midfield we would have been turned over tonight, expected more from him.

Reach - 5, Did ok but final ball still needs a lot of work but atleast he tried to run with the ball and create something,

FF - 6, Work rate was excellent, tracked back twice 60+ yards to make a tackle, didn't offer much going forward but neither did anyone else.

Rhodes - 5, Doesn't look match fit at all and got literally no service, nothing he could really do, but nice flick on for the goal.

Not even worth mentioning the subs as they were just as poor, but it was nice to see Abdi make a cameo.

Probably the most boring game of football i've watched this season, we had 1 shot on target which was the goal but other than that we created absolutely nothing. I don't even think we had a half chance or a decent passage of play...if you missed the game yes it was actually that bad. Very lucky we were up against a poor side because any top half team at home tonight would have rolled us over. Felt like nobody knew what to do with the ball once we had it, so many long balls or attempted first time passes down the middle.

Everyone is still buzzing we've signed Rhodes so it sort of covers up tonights performance. But it doesn't escape the real problem is that without Lee that midfield has no creativity at all. We looked second best to Wigan tonight who are a bottom 3 side and did not deserve 3 points in the slightest. We have a squad that's good enough for promotion but CC needs to find a formula that works, yet another performance this season where we get lucky and run away winners, might still be in the top 6 but still a long way off where we should be.

FF for me, ran his heart out, and his challenge in the second half after running 30 yards to clear up after another woeful piece of play by Bannan and Jones, showed me he does care, and showed our midfield how it should be done.

Otherwise, awful, woeful viewing, but it's 3 points, the only positive I can bring myself to say at this moment in time.

Westwood - 7

Hunt - 6

Loovens - 7

Sasso - 8

Pudil - 5 (Semedo - N/A)

Wallace - 6 (McManaman - 6)

Bannan - 7

Jones - 5

Reach - 7

Rhodes - 7

Forestieri - 7 (Abdi - N/A)

Thought Sasso was a big positive - 2 league games, 2 clean sheets for him. Did everything solid (one dodgy clearance mind!), played against different types of strikers and looked comfortable.

Forestieri's work rate was excellent, even if his flair and creativity was missing.

Reach carried the ball very well, worked hard, only let down with his end product and some decision making.

Rhodes used his body well, showed good movement, battled and scrapped, and won a great header to assist the winning goal.

Pudil and Jones were off the pace today - pretty sloppy, caught out too many times, and poor distribution.

Terrible game to watch, but 3 points on a wet, cold Friday night in Wigan - take them and run.
