Look closely there are something resembling a couple of tennis courts there, and if you note where the north roof meets the LL corner could that be a goal's crossbar we can just see? Yeah first time I've ever seen those tennis courts - never knew they existed I was aware the football team actually trained at the back of the North Stand at times which seems bizarre but have seen it in films/photos Owlstalk Shop

Now that's how the ground should look! Oh and for someone asking earlier, you can clearly see the railings at the back of the Kop! I was in the middle of the kop that day - aged 15. A great photo. A great thread. 1
Rodger Wylde
I'm still convinced the West Stand roof extension was designed by a 7 yeard old Blunt. Horrendous contraption.

I always remember my dad meeting one or two at that big tree between the South & the river. Think they are aerial photographs from the 1930's. There's similar pictures of grounds from all over the country at that time.
torryowl
sure I read somewhere that at one time there was a stable behind the north stand where the groundsman kept his horse which pulled the mower and roller ….

Remember sometimes seeing an ugly bald bloke walking around the edge of the pitch taking them. Edited April 10, 2020 by DJMortimer
