westy365owl
It was repainted a few years ago 1 hour ago, Supervisor2 said: Can never understand why the front of the West Stand roof has not been repainted. It looks so shabby and you can still make out ‘Presto Stand’ after all these years Surely we could generate some extra income from major sponsorship to put a new name on it (not Chansiri or Elev8) Even blue and white stripes would be an improvement

Animis
Looking at the wedge, it seems we extended it after this point 1966, which I didn't realise. I wonder why they did it in two stages?

It was opened August 1961, five years before the WC. We didn't sell the old stand to anyone. It had been there since about 1900 and was worthless. Made of wood. Would be condemned today. Mansfield bought their old main stand from Hurst racecourse and it was opened in 1966. It reputedly cost £150k, the same as ours, which still stands!

Seats are in the lower west so has to be 91/92 (when they were first installed). The pitch suggests a late season game (good surface but heavy wear in the goalmouths) Maybe last game versus Liverpool, weather was good that day. Popular Post Willie Henderson
It won't be long until Hillsborough is the last of the big old grounds. Then we will be given special world heritage status which will open the door to loads of free funding and support... ...and then we can buy more wingers. 2

The north is the best looking stand in English football imho 1
NobbyStyle
A thing of beauty that needs the respect & responsibility of owning. We’ve sadly none of the above. Breaks my heart. 1
Tony Pulis
Nothing ever beats that feeling of walking up the steps and out onto the wonderful view of our hearty turf. Ever. 3
