New SWFC stadium wishlist

Recommended Posts

All the best grounds for atmosphere and passion are the old grounds, especially in foreign leagues so the world cup development would be the best way forward, would look awesome and still hold all the history and memories. That airspace over the pitch holds many memories. There's far worse grounds in the prem.

  • Where is it? - Hillsborough
  • How big is it? - About 39,000 but designed in such a way that you cannot ever use all the seats due to segregation
  • What does it look like? - A lovely wishy washy faded blue colour. Must have a tree behind one of the stands and absolutely no space in the gangways to walk. Plus the lack or room behind stand means we don't have to bother with food outlets. No parking. Also make sure the roof is held up by poles, they're traditional and charming.
  • What is it called? - Ye Olde Stadium or I Don't Like Change Arena

Let's be honest with ourselves, if we moved it would be to somewhere like Boro's ground next to the M1/Parkway.

I've heard some many fans of clubs who have moved say they regret it, and next to none say they were glad they moved. For reference:

I would demolish the West Stand and build something modern, with a large lower tier and better concourses, upper tier for away fans and built in such a way we get rid of the segregation issues. Then utilise space behind the Kop with better and more facilities.

Massive fan park on site of Wednesdayite car park.

Where is it?  It's in Hillsborough Park served by a  multiplex of commercial outlets, restaurants and fast food outlets. The  ample car park has a dream design feature which is a propelled artificial well stocked stream offering beauty and practicality. Three joint tram and bus terminals mean a trouble free journey to the ground for fans.

How big is it ? The ground is a futuristic design which houses a myriad of storage batteries. The solar panels which make up the suspended roof and H2o heat exchangers produce 320% of the energy needs of the  complex. The 220% power is sold back to the National grid. The three tier ground houses 40 reasonably sized hospitality boxes in the traditional rectangular (Rather than bowl) shape. The overall capacity is a little over 70K. It is anticipated that the full capacity can be completely emptied in 16 minutes.

What does it look like ? It looks like a 22nd century piece of architecture with a an Archibald Leach special feature.

What is it called ? Hillsborough of course.

Thank you.

Assuming this could actually still be built on our present site and assuming that a) it could be expanded if necessary b) it could do all the commercial stuff some on here keep banging on about.

Then I think that would do very nicely.

It's a bloody shame that England did not get the 2018 world cup because we would just about have that stadium now.

40,000 capacity multipurpose (income generating) arena WITH A ROOF.

This would be unique in the UK (only Cardiff has a decent sized stadium with a roof and it's a lot bigger and completely out of the way) and would attract sporting events (Boxing/UFC etc) and concerts galore.
