Definitely worth noting that Norwich try to completely dominate that central midfield area. Big game for our midfield on Saturday, but with the way we love to play so narrow it shouldn't be an issue.

I'm looking forward to seeing how we set up away from home this season. With last season's away record being so poor I'm sure Carlos will do something different this season.

Going to give a shout out to Kieran Lee. Attached is a map of his touches against Villa. Literally in all 4 corners of the pitch. What a player.

Whoever plays on the left of midfield for us on Saturday has a massive game on their hands. Ivo Pinto and Jacob Murphy are likely to be playing on the right for Norwich, two incredibly dangerous players. Probably going to need FF and Bannan/Abdi to slightly reign in how much they come inside to make sure there is always someone watching Murphy and Pinto. The second attachment shows the touches of Pinto and Murphy against Blackburn.

Norwich City Scout Report:

Last match - Blackburn 1-4 Norwich. Jacob Murphy, Wes Hoolahan, Steven Naismith and Cameron Jerome were the scorers. Ivo Pinto got 2 assists along with Howson and Hoolahan who got 1 each.

MOtM: Wes Hoolahan - 1 goal and 1 assist. 64 passes, 75% success rate. 3 interceptions, 0 tackles.

Norwich had 12 shots vs Blackburn, with 7 of those on target.

67% of Norwich’s shots came through the middle, with the remaining 33% all from the right.

They completed 568 passes, but made only 6 crosses. 482 passes were short, 77 long and 3 through balls.

Jacob Murphy had more shots than any other Norwich player with 5 and 3 of those were on target.

They had 58.3% possession, and Steven Naismith had 8% of that. Nobody completed more dribbles than Steven Naismith who completed 2.

Ivo Pinto won only 33% of his aerial battles, despite being 6 feet tall. On the other hand, Ryan Bennett had a 100% success rate in the air vs Blackburn.

Alex Tettey was the best passer for Norwich, with a success rate of 95%.

The main man: Steven Naismith. More touches than any other player vs Blackburn with 91. Pass success rate of 91% from 79 passes including 2 key passes. Given free reign as shown on heat map.

The danger man: Cameron Jerome. Scored 1 vs Blackburn. 2 shots, 1 on target. Won more aerial battles than any other player on the pitch with 7, although had a success rate in the air of only 47%.

Weakness: Full backs. Both full backs love to get forward, and can be caught out when tracking back. Ivo Pinto, the Norwich right back, is poor in the air and that is where the Blackburn goal came from.

That heat map shows how Forestieri dominates possession on our left wing, but our right wing is a series of players getting to the by-line and swinging in crosses.

Is it? I thought it was the Norwich heat map?

Joel - do you have a FF heat map v Villa?

The first heatmap is FF's vs Villa. The second is the heatmap for all our midfielders against Villa. Thought it was interesting how much more we attacked down the left, although you don't really need a heatmap to know that.

Norwich match review:

Norwich 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday.

Wednesday had 7 shots during the match, with 5 on target. 71% of these shots came through the middle and, incidentally, 71% came from outside the box. Nobody had more hots than Pudil who had 2.

Wednesday had 54.1% possession, meaning Norwich had 45.9%. Bannan had 7.7% of this.

Wednesday had an overall pass success rate of 77%. Abdi was the most successful passer with 91%, closely followed by Hutch and Lee on 90. Lucas Joao had the lowest pass success rate of our outfield players to start the game with only 61%.

We attempted 460 passes (354 completed), compared to 379 for Norwich (274 completed). Bannan completed the most passes out of any SWFC player with 53.

Lucas Joaocompleted 3 dribbles which is more than any other Wednesday player.

Daniel Pudil  won 4 aerial challenges, a large proprtion of Wednesday's 13 successful aerial duels.

Wes Hoolahan was dispossesed 6 times. We did an excellent job of giving him no time or space on the ball.

Lees and Hutchinson made 15 interceptions combined. Norwich centre backs Klose and Bennett made 6 combined.

Bannan had more touches than anyone else on the pitch with 85.

Cameron Jerome only had 18 touches today, 1 fewer than Hooper's 19.

Man of the match: Sam Hutchinson. 90% pass accuracy, 3 tackles, 7 interceptions and 6 clearances.

Barry Bannan stats: 1 shot on target, 81% pass accuracy, 85 touches, 4 tackles and 5 interceptions.

The difference: Tackles. Wednesday completed 7 more tackles than Norwich 22. Abdi, Bannan and Lee won 11 tackles altogether. The entire Norwich team won 15. In comparison to the Wednesday midfield, Tettey and Howson won 2 and 1 tackles respectively.

Worth pointing out again how narrow our midfield is. It was clear watching the match today that we were bossing the midfield, but this proves it even more. Pudil and Hunt are so vital to this team in the width they provide.

I assume we attacked mainly down the right and central Joel?

I think ink we will need a new left sided attacking player, but we will have plenty of cash.

Actually it is not quite how you would expect. Joao and Pudil both charged forward down the left during the match.

Attached file shows the attack sides.

According to WhoScored Sam Hutchinson is the highest performing centre back from the opening 2 games of the Championship season.

Wednesday have the second highest average of interceptions per game with 25. Ipswich have the most with 42, perfectly showing how a Mick McCarthy team works.
