Brighton's signing's seem to suggest they expect to lose Dunk and Stephens.

If they keep them they will be top 2 I reckon

Not sure Duffy is Dunk's replacement. Didn't Goldson get injured pre-season? Also let Greer go. Hughton may pair Dunk and Duffy. Stephens is off.

To be honest Brighton do look strong and at the moment probably are the strongest side from last season capable of challenging the three relegated sides.

Derby, us and others have still got some work to do to before the window closes to have a decent shot at top six again.

Looks like with the spending power, parachute payments and FFP all in their favour that at least two and maybe all three of the relegated sides will make a quick return.

Hopefully, we'll pick up with Loovens back, reverting Hutchinson back into midfield and Abdi into the centre.

Plus hopefully bringing in a couple more quality players in before the window closes.

At a minimum we need 2 more full backs and a winger. Would've liked another centre back and another striker

but having Loovens back will be a massive boost and if we bring in some width then maybe we'll get the best out of the likes of Fletcher.

Bamford would be better moving perm to a Championship club, spend a couple of seasons in a settled team and push on from there.

He's 22 now and aint ever going to make it at Chelsea.

Josh MacEachran mk.II

Chelsea really have zero development.  All these budding starlets just wither on the vine as they're thrown out to Vitesse Arnhem as a "developmental" course.

Chalobah's the next one.

I'm sure they'd love Sougou, Dielna, Vermijl, Helan, and McGugan for a cool million a piece.

Just out of curiosity - you said Paterson would be the only Hearts player to make it near the Wednesday team, how do you think Jamie Walker would fair with us?

I'm a big fan of Jamie, he's a very direct player, talent and skill

in abundance, and he scores goals, it's his body that worries me. Like Paterson he has the ability to play at a higher level but he picks up a lot of niggley injuries. If you look at how well Jonny Russell has done in the league then Walker is definitely capable of the same, they're quite similar in style of play. He wouldn't be a starter for Wednesday, he's a similar ability level to Wallace except younger and can play out wide or as a number 10 equally effectively.

Have you seen much of Jamie?

Another who IMO will go on to bigger and better things is Perry Kitchen who Hearts signed from the MLS. He's a full USA international and is far too good for Scottish football and I've no doubt he will move south at some point soon. He's a Semedo type midfielder, incredible professional, fantastic work rate, and a midfield bully that protects the team incredibly well. Perry really is mature beyond his years.

I like the sound of Perry Kitchen.

Sounds like the steel we need in the midfield. We lack a bully in the centre of the park, especially when we need to dig in and change things up and win ugly if and when needs be.

Plus he sounds like a ladies man, he could earn his keep doing the dishes whilst fighting his way into the team. :manager:

Appreciate the detailed reply. I've not seen huge amounts but I've enjoyed watching Hearts' fantastic re-build job with all the young players and Walker seems to be one of the players at the forefront of the rebuild, every time I've watched Hearts play he seems to be one of the best players on the pitch. Kitchen appears to be a cracking signing, one of those prototypical young American players who will boss midfield by running their blood to water.

By sheer coincidence I'll actually be at the Celtic v Aberdeen game tomorrow so I'll see if anyone would make the grade for us

This club needs some nastiness, some real grit in the mid/back.

£5 million for Mawson is unreal. Let's try and hi jack Barnsley's replacement signing as their scouting network looks pretty good.

Can't believe there aren't similar signings to be had also.
