I understand why everyone wanted Jedinak, but a reported 4mil fee and rumoured 50k wage for a 32yr-old is probably only viable for a club with parachute payments.

Aye, crazy deal. Parachute payments are ruining the League and creating a closed shop. Just meant Jedinak or someone like that would've fitted in and been ideal for what we lack and need. But it should help having Loovens back and putting Hutchinson back in midfield.

Scratch that. Just saw that Clough is injured again after his comeback on the weekend. Looks a good player but unfortunately keeps picking up injuries.

You can say that again...

We have suddenly become one of the paupers in this league

Thats what the parachute payments have caused. They totally distort this division and give a massive, unfair advantage to the three relegated clubs.

If parachute payments aren't enough, these relegated teams can sell all their shuffle for big fee's aswell.

Wijnaldum, Redmond, Clark, Gueye, Sissoko, Townsend etc...they're all loaded.

When Newcastle can sell a player for £25m , why the hell should they also  receive parachute payments ?  Its a joke

Villa being linked with anyone & everyone

Aston Villa have made an ambitious £9million swoop for Bundesliga goal machine Bas Dost, according to reports in Germany.

The 6ft 5in Dutchman – who has netted 35 times in 84 German top-flight appearances for Wolfsburg – has been interesting a number of clubs, including Premier League Southampton and Villa’s Championship rivals Newcastle United.

But German reports claim it is Villa who have moved ahead in the race for the striker, who also enjoyed a prolific spell in Dutch football with Heerenveen, by tabling a bid.

Moroccan international Romain Saiss could become Wolves' ninth signing of the summer as Walter Zenga finalises his squad for a promotion charge.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder - who can also play in central defence - has held talks with the club over a permanent move from French Ligue 1 side Angers.

Saiss starred in the French top flight last year and has been courted by several clubs, including Villa who tried to sign him in January.

The potential fee involved is unknown but will be lowered by the fact Saiss is out of contract at Angers next summer.

It's believed Saiss and his representatives were in Wolverhampton on Monday to thrash out a deal.

He moved to Angers from Ligue 2 side Le Havre in 2015 and was their players of the year in his debut season.

Wolves have looked at several players in France during the past couple of years, with former popular centre half Ludovic Pollet scouting for them.

They signed defender Sylvain Deslandes from Caen last summer and snapped up midfielder Prince Oniangue from Reims last week.

Le Havre striker Nathael Julan also came close to moving to Molineux in June, but decided to stay with the Ligue 2 club.

The combative Saiss missed just three Ligue 1 games for Angers in 2015/16, scoring two goals and also earning 12 yellow cards.
