Miffed
Is this one? They were before my time, but are these the ones that used to get thrown on the pitch after a bad performance? What was the story? Were they just put on the seats before every game? Were they ever thrown on the pitch during games? Did people / players ever get hit?
owlsincefifties
I used to sell them for the Supporters club, so no they weren't free and they were thrown on the pitch for various reasons especially bad reffing. Collecting them after was a pain especially the wet and muddy ones that had been thrown on the pitch.
Goose
I sold these on the north, don't remember them looking like that though. The ones I sold were square plain blue and flat. Weighed quite a bit used to knacker me out collecting them at the end. Never had to go on the pitch to collect them though.
S36 OWL
They take me back . I used to have one . Took it to every home game back in the day wouldnt be allowed now a days as SP Plod would no doubt class them as offensive weapons.
BRADDO
My Nan used to buy one at each match in 70's / 80's. A few got thrown at garbage refs that's for sure.
Ian_D
I can remember renting one of those a few times. Think it was about 5 or 10 pence a time. But my memory is fairly poor.
Flat Owl
The creeping barrage from the cantilever towards a hapless linesman was a sight to behold...
Plonk
Rember seeing photos of such incidents. Anyone got one? Dunsbyowl ?
Inspector Lestrade
Its what they deserve. Were soft nowadays a bit of cushion violence never hurt anyone.
marconi
Ref took players off the pitch after Gerry Young's late equalizer was ruled out for handball. North Stand touchline was covered in them.
Mr Farrell
If you haven't set one on fire and thrown it the opposition winger, you aren't a Truefan.
hasthagotanycheese
Can remember salvos of these flying out of the north stand towards hapless officials or players in the 70's

Prendo's boots
North and South had some pretty handy "chuckers" .... refs and linesmen usually kopped for it...or just a general full time show of dismay at yet another classic performance!!

Flat Owl
1 hour ago, Paolo Di Catio said: Well done PDC. In all the cushion threads over the years on here, this is the first photo of cushion carnage I have ever seen. As a nipper, I always admired those that could wind themselves up like a discus thrower and manage to launch one into the centre circle. There were better athletes in the stands than on the pitch in those days...
