The More You Know

Recommended Posts

Apparently there's no away goals rule in the playoffs. I just assumed there was. So in case anyone else didn't know, there's no away goals rule in the playoffs. Maybe it was just me lol

You learn something new every day...

It wasn't just you - just hope the coaching team know, and not assume some euro rules exist.

Amazing.

Why would there be away goals in the playoffs? lol

On account of playing one fixture at home and one away from home? Other competitions utilise the away goals rule, ergo I assumed there was an away goals rule. I'm confused what you mean.

Well it's always been a European thing hasn't it? Since UEFA introduced the rule. I think they use them in the league cup semi finals but even then they should do away with them. It's just not a rule that should be anywhere near football in the UK.

Just discovered that if we win 2-0 at Brighton, we win 4-0 on something called aggregate. Think its something to do with gravel but not sure exactly.

Right. So we should go there and try to win? Interesting... Edited by eddyowl123

Don't think it's used anywhere in the UK, not even the league cup.

Remember Arsenal and Reading had a high scoring cup game & 90 mins was up and some foreign Arsenal players went off celebrating & chucked their shirts into the crowd. Only to have to ask for those shirts back when someone told them that away goals didn't count & they had another 30 to play.

I think it's only used in uefa competitions to discourage attempting nil nils away from home constantly. Could be wrong but I don't think it's ever been used in English competition.

Edit: also used to avoid home advantage in unnecessary extra time.

That is 6-0 with away goals then right?
