KivoOwl
Originated at the beginning of the 20th century and was heard at games with large crowds - the drawing below depicts one of its more famous outings - when we were 0-1 down to Arsenal in an FA Cup quarter-final. A roar rose up from the crowd to get behind the players - rumour had it it could be heard at Bramall Lane, where Sheffield United were playing a reserve game. We went on to win 2-1 and win the FA Cup. Nowadays we're lucky to get half the 65,000 we got through the gates that day, but every now and then the Hillsborough Roar leaves a tingle on the back of the neck. The noise made when the players came out of the tunnel against Wycombe was immense - I was stood at the front of the Kop and felt the full force of the Kop - wow. Can't wait for tonight - the Hillsborough Roar will be back. Come on Wednesday!
