dunsbyowl
May have posted about this before but it is one of my favourite Wednesday stories. 6th May 1950 - Just imagine a 1950's version of Football Heaven and a young Brian the Blade getting out of his pram about this one ? Promotion secured on a .008 "Gap" over the Blunts - forever in our shadow. Hope it's all in order. Anyone old enough to remember this? Bolsterstone Owl
Thanks Dunsby, love the old photos. If you just take a moment to think of the history of our ground and the events it has seen, and the joyous happy memories it has given us as fans, past and present, it is unthinkable to move. I bet many great grandfathers of todays Wednesdayites were present in that ground that day, just as excited as we are about the prospective promotion we face now. Just so sad its tarnished with the memories of Liverpool v Forest semi.
nevthelodgemoorowl
We had to miss all those chances, it was only fair on Spurs with my birth just 9 days away it wouldn't have been fitting to beat them and let the Blades up !
nevthelodgemoorowl
About the Blades "Development of players encourages optimism for the future" nothing much changes there then !
nevthelodgemoorowl
As usual on May 17th 1950 the Blades celebrated missing out on promotion in the old Wednesday Cricket Pavilion.
