niallzi
Now the end blocks on the North / South are open, I had a quick look and noticed that ALL the seats are for sale. Usually the front few rows on these blocks still remain closed for segregation (such as at the Arsenal match). Because they're open, there appears to be no segregation motive, the only possible reason for which is that they are planning on opening the West Lower for home fans (or sadly keeping it empty). Ever the pessimist
With the somewhat warped SYP / SAG logic I would think that events this morning make it even less likely that we will get the West Lower.
FlyingOwl
We won't be getting the West lower. Opening the final two blocks of the North and South was never to do with segregation, but something to do with room on the concourse for fire evacuations. Half of the final block on the North, the top half, remains closed. So it seems the club has compromised & gone right to the edge of what can be released. ohgoditsjames
We won't be getting the West lower. Why is that? Related to the the inquest?
bigthinrob
So the entire ground is going to be packed to the rafters and the immediate area behind the goal at the Lepps (which is the area everyone sees on tele/ highlights) is going to be totally empty. It will spoil the entire look of a sold out Hillsborough not to mention the acoustics compared to if it had been rammed with Wednesdayites. If indeed we don't open the lower lepps, this should mark the LAST time this happens if the demand is there. If this enquiry is at last drawing to a conclusion, we need to do what is necessary and have root & branch reforms to the way of thinking, with regard to this. Other grounds are allowed full allocations, we have played ball for long enough, shown respect, but it is now time to move on. #@sick of being dictated to!!! ohgoditsjames
So we remain as the only club that cannot use all of our capacity, ridiculous.
FlyingOwl
Why is that? Related to the the inquest? Was said at the Steering Group Meeting that the 'trial' for having our fans in the West lower went well & SYP were happy. However they said that it wouldn't happen for games against teams 'like Leeds'. In terms of the numbers Cardiff will probably take & the high emotion & stakes of the game.....the club/SYP won't risk having our fans underneath their fans. As stupid as it sounds because other stadiums do cope with just a line of stewards.

Which begs the question of what is the point of having a stadium so big you can't fill it due to "safety"?

Not having a pop at you and to some extent i can see their logic, but it seems that it boils down to the tail wagging the dog, where the reputation of certain fans dictates what WE, can & cannot do in our own ground. Surely better to handle the problem at source, ie sort the fans out who potentially cause the problem. I couldn't for eg see Man Utd altering their match strategy with regard to ticketing and where their own supporter's are allowed to sit, just because they are playing a certain side with a reputation. Probably won't happen overnight but it needs sorting.
Mr Mercury
The interesting thing here will be if we give Cardiff the bottom tier if they sell the top. If we do, there's likely to be more trouble than if we were put there - I.e. Remember Palace ?? Be gutted if they get the bottom, we need to keep there support as low (in numbers) as poss for a game like this.

Mr Mercury
Be maddening that if they DID sell out top and sold say 200 in bottom too & all the Weds area's sold out with fans still wanting home tickets (its only Tuesday after all) ...... well, what a joke that would be ! ViolaOwls
so a Manchester, meseyside, Glasgow derby ect isn't as passionate as us ve Cardiff or leeds A line or seats and stewards seems to work everywhere else. Flying owl, it seems like you just let the club talk you all down with sad excuses and you go with it. Cardiff are in a upper tier, a separate area of the stand, do you honestly think there all going to charge the steps? no there not are they, pathetic
ViolaOwls
NW west corner is separated by a fence/screen, so no reason not to sell us this either, unless we need to separate the north stand from the home fans in the NW corner
ViolaOwls
Steveger- it seems more like excuses by the club to make sure we move to a new soulless bowl in the middle of nowhere, but its ok instead of meeting at the normal pubs, we can meet under the stadium and throw our lager round in plastic cups. bigdan2003
To be fair, the cops were probably all over the fixture before the added excitement anyway - Cardiff visiting can get a bit nawty.
