Momentum or Rest

Recommended Posts

Carlos says the break has come at a good time and who am I to argue with the King.

Just think that with two 3-0 wins on the trot, it might have been a good thing to allow the momentum to carry us through to the end.  Maybe it's also because I hate international breaks.

What do you think?  Is it helpful to have space to rest and recover (don't forget every other team will be getting that too) or would it have been better to soar upwards in a rich vein of form?

Was thinking along these lines the other day. Logic suggests that a break is good in that it gives time to clear up niggleing injuries etc., but it seems to me that we have not returned with "full energy" (as Carlos puts it) after past breaks. Can't be *rsed to look it up, but it might be mildly interesting to check out the stats.

The first break we came back and lost 3-1 at Burnley despite playing pretty well.

Second break we drew 1-1 at home to Hull

Last one we bounced back from a 3-1 defeat at Charlton to beat Huddersfield 3-1

Pretty inconclusive then.

All that really matters is what we do after this one, I suppose

Tell a Leicester fan that

But that's the point - streaks unquestionably exist, as will regressions to the mean and so on. Whether it's 'momentum' is hard to say but whenever it does happen, confirmation bias has a field day.

Lost against a side with genuine title-winning credentials.

Drew against another side with genuine title-winning credentials.

Beat a bottom-half team.

No massive surprises there whenever those results would have occurred.

With 11 massive games coming up, rest would probably be the best option.

Yes, eleven, of course...........and here was I thinking it was eight!

I agree totally now, rest and then build momentum again for the finale at Wembley.

Believe! ( as someone on here was once heard to say).

Momentum for me I have never been a fan of international lay off's .even as a player i would hate missing games for one reason or the other .but that is just me i suppose missing matches for internationals is part of the norm now so we have to go with it whether we like it or not ,the way i look at it is if it is only one or two players who are picked for their country Teams can and should be able to cover those positions using players from the bench , but the teams at the top would struggle as there are so many internationals playing for the big teams you could lose 5 players at any one time ,so methinks this is geared for the top of the prem teams who sign these players, so as always all teams have to be involved whether it is liked or not
