(Very early) Team vs Brighton

Recommended Posts

This one merits an early thread I think because this is one of the biggest team selections of the season.

Lots of options.

Westwood

Palmer

Lees

Loovens

Pudil

Lee

Hutchinson

Bannan

Bennett

Joao

Hooper

Would start Bennett as he will offer more defensive protection to Pudil up against Jamie Murphy or Knockaert.

Definitely start Joao for this one and get in behind the slower Brighton defence.

Push Bannan wide left instead of Bennett, and bring in Wallace, and I could go with that. Please, please don't start with two wingers

Personally I'd take Lee out. Seems to have lost a bit of form.

Also agree we will win. It would be very like us to pop up with a win.

I would go along with this, definitely bring Joao and Hutchinson in if he's fit.

Hardest team to pick for many weeks.

Westwood

Hunt

Lees

Turner

Bennett (wouldnt normally drop a top player but Pudil was awful and Looked totally off the pace. Bennett did well v Hull)

Wallace

Lee

Bannan

McGeady. But given a rocket for effort

Hooper

Joao (deserves to start after yesterdays MOM performance)

Nuhiu

Need to play with that dm in middle to have that balance. Lee and bannan both playing together in the middle makes us lightweight and easily wide open and doesn't get the best out of Bannan

The midfield is the issue.

Sometimes we look brilliant other times completely overrun. Sometimes our ball players run the game other times outmuscled.

We like to play narrow but they have decent wide men.

We like to play two strikers but that can leave us short in the middle.

Best of luck with that Carlos

We aren't strong enough in midfield with 2 wingers.

Hutch to come in for Bannan and Bennett out wide instead of McGeady.

I'd rest Bannan - I think he needs it. Back 4 to stay the same apart from Palmer for Hunt.

Start with Dave and Hooper - Joao hasn't convinced when he starts and Dave is worth a start away from home.

Will be a tough tough game, Brighton have a good attacking side and are hard to beat, a draw would be a good result considering our poor away form/record against the top 6. Losing patience with playing Nuhiu now, for all the good qualities he brings to the team, goal scoring is not one and we need goals, so no place for him on Tuesday. I can't say i'm a big fan of Turner too, the man is so slow it's like he's running in treacle, Loovens hasn't been great this season but Turner isn't a step up. Would like to see Joao play a part too, looked back like himself on Saturday and could be a game changer late on.

Id bring Hutch back in as the holding midfielder for this one if he is fit . Just to give us a bit more steel in midfield, something we badly missed yesterday
