Sgt Wednesday
Just a quick one lads. 2 weeks ago I caught myself looking at the top 2 and thinking we can catch those f'kers (honestly i hate the play offs), since then we went away to an organised Preston and got beat and then back home to draw with QPR. 2 games that an in form SWFC could win. Tonight we pick up a strong away point away to 1st placed Hull City, a team riddled with ex premiership players and Sam Clucas. We have to say a point tonight is a good point but that means we have picked up 2 points from a possible 9, not good enough. I then look at the League table and see Hull, Middlesbrough, Burnley and Derby who are about 5 seasons in front of us in terms of building a squad for a push to the Premiership. With big wage budgets, huge transfer fees, many ex premier league players and parachute payments. I think back to last season and remember how far we have come in such a short space of time, its been incredible. We have seen some great football this season and some amazing goals, thats all I wanted from this season after last season. Yet, we are sat in a play off place, SWFC, play off place WTF. We can go up but we aren't ready yet, lets build and stay there, lets think long term (next season, champions), another couple of transfer windows and we will be ready. A flirt with the play offs this season is success for SWFC. We have come along way but we still have a bit to do. WAWAW, WTID.
Utah Owl
It's never too early to get promoted. With the money now available in the Premier we would easily be capable of building a team strong enough to stay there.
Blue n White Rampage
watching most of the football we play and seeing us in the play offs im happy, if we drop out of the playoff ill be disappointed. we've been on a long road. i started going to games regularly 95-96 season i've seen our slope, but after Allen i think we got more of a buzz back. aspiration and since then its been a long road and imo this season is too big an ask, but its good to be in the top 6 and getting plaudits. at the moment i really hope carlos stays and has another crack at it, with more time to build the squad and add some more quality players...wingers, lb, rb, cb, another bannan and of course another striker... latemodelchild
Never too early to go up. Huge money on offer even if we finished rock bottom. The parachute payments alone dwarf the TV income we currently receive. Let's go up this season and worry about whether it's too early from the prem with 100 million or so rolling in. If we have to go through playoffs so be it. If we don't make it, I'd expect us to be very competitive again next year. There are just an awful lot of unknowns in that equation though and if you offered me the chance to go up now I'd snap your hand off.

You gonna sit with the opposites in the play offs then and cheer them on? Like others have said - never too early. It's worth a fortune. Whenever you go up you're going to have to invest heavily so it doesn't matter if you've built a squad for 5 years or 1 year.
NIOwl
The old 'too early to go up' fallacy. Like the league is ever going to be easy to get out of. Take any chance you can.
East Yorks Owl
Without any doubt we 100% have to focus on promotion. Some of the football we play is superb; many of our players have enough quality to grace the PL. If we fail this season, the hope would be we come back stronger next year but there's no guarantee we will.
Stoop
it won't be the end of the world if we don't go up this season 2 or 3 top quality additions next season will see us up there again

I want SWFC in the premiership more than anything but if we don't go up this season its not a tragedy. Some of you are acting like its poo or bust. joelswfc
Don't get the argument about it being too early to go up. Chansiri has already said that we will only worry about being ready for the Prem when we are there. Some great points from the OP though putting everything into context. Kickaball has done alright. theowlsman
Good post OP but let's go up this season please. There are no guarantees that next season we'll be just as good. My main fear is that we don't go up this season, Carlos gets poached by a Premier League team, and the team spirit falls apart under a new Head Coach. Grab what you can, while you can. Sgt Wednesday
I haven't said I don't want us to go up, that would be daft. But, if we don't go up we can still be happy with our season so far. I suppose what I am trying to say is lets relax and enjoy ourselves and not get up tight and nervous.
