nuneatonowl1
Bearing in mind the 5,694 tickets sold for today, off the top of my head, it's our largest away attendance in a league game since Derby away (at the start of the season a few years ago... 6,600?) and, if we'd had the ticket availability we'd have exceeded the Derby turnout Trying to think of other large followings over the years for league games. Different to cup games nowadays as you don't really get the chance to take more than 4-5k in the league due to restricted capacities. I can think of numerous larger followings at Barnsley in the past decade. Others I can recollect... all based round crucial / promotion games so puts the Preston following in greater context as it's not a 'decider/celebratory game .... Likely to have missed many so please add Blackburn '79 9,000 Cardiff 84? 10k+ (Promotion day) Huddersfield 84 9,000? Liverpool (first season back up) Pigs 79 15k official (2k+ on their Kop)

nuneatonowl1
hi all, thanks for the replies ... apologies but didn't put Barnsley in the list as mentioned at the start that we've taken numerous large followings there in the last decade or so. I was thinking other than Barnsley and Derby. Mattt68 ..yes my error there mate, it was 1980, 79-80 season. Also, yes I was thinking of Newcastle away, the Shelton overhead kick game. We had the open Leazes end, just terracing in those days. Not sure how many we took but I'm sure it was 6k+ and could have been as much as 9k
