Guest
I've always said we'd never get back the style of football we played in the 90's. The type of players we had in the 90's. Though not there yet I can see glimpses of it with this current team. Could we reach this peak, style again.? That would be exciting.
Holmowl
I dont remember us being all that silky. Wonderful and exciting yes, but silky? Sheridan and Waddle were a joy of course, but Palmer, Hirst, Bright could all mix it big time. In fact Sheridan could put in a tasty tackle. Our current team can play quite stunning football. Some of the Bannan, Forestieri, Lee, Wallace interpassing can make you purr. And it has a purpose, rather than just being pretty. The 93 team murders the 2016 team, but if we get into the PL and add 3 or 4 top players to the best of our current crop we might change our opinion. clud17
I can't see why not. I'd like to say that we will become more attractive to the better players wanting to come here but the fact is that in the modern game wages count. If DC is willing to pay the wages the better players will come. Carlos is playing a great style of football and as long as he continues to move us forward and DC backs him we will get better and better. The silky football may stop if we don't get promotion in the next year or so and DC decides to go for someone else. Then we may see some agricultural hoofball or Barcelona-esque style. Who knows. The positive side is that DC seems to want the silky football at Hillsborough.

I don't want us to play like Barcelona. They pass the ball around for about 10 minutes in areas that don't matter then pick a killer ball. It's boring for 10 minutes. Then they score. Then it's boring for another 10 minutes. Scintillating for the one moment every so often of course. But I love how we have a bit of urgency and a bit of a spring in our step. We get the ball and we want to get it forward and pass it around in the opposition half and try and create something at every opportunity. (Disclaimer: I am in no way suggesting we are a better footballing side then Barcelona)

Eightace
first home game against hull, the 5-1 game we tore em a new arse playing fast attacking "silky" football and it carried on in my opinion I think that game was the one where Hirsty scored a great goal that came from a lot of passes and a back heel from palmer. One of my favourite goals. We might not have played barcelona style but it was still great football to watch.

Have to say I think the football is more silky now than it was then - but both were/are equally amazing to watch.

Warringtonowl
Anti football is the dross we had to watch last season...playing not to lose and hoof it down the channels i dont disagree with you either.. anti football comes in various forms... its a conpetitive sport and some teams take the competition element out of it making it not competitive... my definition of anti football

To watch Wednesday play like Barcelona. i probably would too .... but as a neutral its not for me... they are almost too good if that makes sense.. sorry to draw such an appalling comparison but its like a computer game.. once you've mastered it the enjoyment from it disappears. pickledegghiderman
Dont see what all this anti football malarky is all about. The only fans who are bored of barcelona or guardiola's tactics are the opposition. What are they bored of? Chasing shadows? Getting hammered? Not being able to compete? If anyone watched the barcelona teams of late you would see fast paced one touch football with plenty of goals to boot, its not their fault opposition teams are unable to cope with the skill level. Barca and munchen are 2 of the very best footballing teams to watch in modern history, its about time other clubs caught up and maybe even come up with strategies to beat these teams thus evolving football as a whole. Until then we will have to do with leicester city ( which is no bad thing by the way ) being top of the premiership and english teams having no chance of honours, domestic and international level

Id maybe change that view if it were wednesday... but in principle i watch and enjoy football for entertainment, sometimes the likes of barca and munchen dont entertain me.
