Blue and white
Apologies if already posted but I've been reading about a new facility at the stadium of light that allows fans with autism to attend the game and watch from a safe area that reduces, noise, stress and promotes a therapeutic environment to watch the game, it is hoped that all the major clubs will have this facility in the very near future and I was thinking is this something we should be looking to do as a number of our fans are either on the spectrum or take their children who have autism. Salmonbones
Hiding to nothing the club with this one, do it and - well a small amount of kudos but it's only ever going to lose the club money. Good PR and of course good will from the families who benefit. Pro's and cons, if any regime in the last 20 years was to do something like this, well it's the right one now. If this has enough backing, join forces and get in touch with the club, see if there is any mileage in it?
Beholder
Yes. I would have thought a section of the grandstand would be appropriate for such an area.
FlyingOwl
Probably something I can bring up at the next Steering Group Meeting if enough people reckon it's a good idea/has mileage?

WatfordOwl
I don't know if we cover anything directly at the club but it may be worth dropping a line to the community engagement scheme. There's also a thread 'let's not forget' in the ticketing section on here. It could be something they could look at based on individual or groups - I would think they would definitely point you in the right direction if they themselves cannot help. http://www.swfc.co.uk/news/article/owls-launch-community-engagement-scheme-2598784.aspx

Last_Great_Hope
Anywhere on the South should be fine. We all sit down and shush anyone making noise anyway - should be perfect.

Freshfish
I think it would be brilliant idea and then a space that could be made available for other activities during the week...it's not a huge commitment but would be very, very well received... WatfordOwl
Will note that. We've got so many empty boxes...surely one can be spared for a sensory room? You'd think so. I used to take my brother in law in the Westfield Health enclosure and the club are very accommodating for fans who have additional requirements to attend. themaskedowl
It's a great idea mate, it's certainly something I'd be interested in.+1 from me, though it's not something my family would be able to take advantage of (very often) we do seem to have a decent ASD contingent. Wouldn't an area that reduces noise, stress and promotes a therapeutic environment be perfectly suited to a box? Forgive my lack of understanding in Autism, but surely the general public, and excitable football fans especially, are too erratic to ensure this sort of environment! But a box....well, you get the atmosphere, the sights, the sounds piped in, but can also dampen them and couple them with something more relaxing? What the statistics on Autism in general? Percentages, I mean? Something that could be used to show SWFC that this is something that's needed, etc. XX fans therefore XX have a potential need for this.
