Nuhiu

It's strange how he appears to be the only Wednesday forward in history exempt from criticism of his goal scoring record.

Some have even invented "the Nuhiu role" where it doesn't matter if he only scores 2 goals in 24 games, as long as he's attempting to win headers and occupying 17 players at once.

Gives more than goals to the team apparently, yet it's impossible to find a stat that backs up this claim. Passing accuracy is woeful, wins very few aerial duels for a man of his size and rarely creates chances for his teammates.

It's worth remembering he cost nothing from the Austrian league. History will eventually show he's been an ok signing who helped us progress from a relegation threatened side, to a comfortable championship team. But now, with the current project in full swing, in my personal (perhaps brutal) opinion, he has no business playing alongside genuine quality, who for the most part of the season have carried him.

Strange !

It appears that our two previous managers and our present manager don't share your

opinion of Atdhe. All three of them have continued to play him on a regular basis.

Perhaps they don't understand the game of football as well as you.

I thought he assisted the goal.

Obviously helping secure points isn't quite enough for some.

Yes he could have a better strike rate, but he's what we have and we win more points with him in the team than without.

Not sure what is difficult for anyone to comprehend in that statistic.

But as with many posters, it is a lot easier to moan and be critical rather than support.

Like the nobbers who just hurl abuse at players for the slightest mistake, be it Nuhiu, Loovens, FF or Lee (which was classic last night).

"Too slow Lee, put a bit of effort in man."

Ten minutes of play later...

Saw both sides of Nuhiu tonight,

His 1st half was poor and a little embarrassing at times, his diving in the Lep/South corner was pitifull. This behaviour contributes to the non pen award at Shrewsbury.

However he deft header was a direct assist, for which he deserves credit.

Still doesn't do near anywhere enough to be in our team, he likley to end the  league season on 3 goals and 3/4 assists.

To decision to award Loovens & Nuhiu contract extensions  are mind boggling.

Some of the things he does, he really doesn't help himself.

The woeful header and shot in the first half, BUT when the ball is played into him effectively both on the ground and more recently in the air, he helps create opportunities.

He is never going to be a clinical finisher unfortunately but he helps generate points.

The best thing about football is everyone is entitled to an opinion as there's very rarely a clear cut right and wrong.

More points when he starts than when he doesn't is right.

It is a FACT...!

Not this old chestnut, Look up cause & correlation

Nuhiu (Burnley apart) doesn't start against the top teams.

Nuhiu didn't start against

Boro (twice),

Hull,

Derby,

Ipswich,

Birmingham

For his two starts against a top team, we gained ONE point.

Our teams picks up more points against lower teams (like the majority of teams do)

Maybe that's why we didn't pick up (many) points in those games you listed. Because Nuhiu wasn't playing from the start. You can't base any conclusions on 2 games cos that's not reliable enough. Edited by Oliver Read

The problem is when he is good he's very good but when he is poor is is very poor as opposed to someone like Lees who is 7 or 8 out of ten every match. The thing is now we can use Atdhe to our advantage in the games where he can make a difference as we have choices.

as iv'e said before  the man can play but is too inconsistent, needs to up the anti like the second half yesterday admmitedly i only listen'd on the radio . but all it was .was nuhiu does this and nuhiu does that iin a good way so fair do;s the chap must have excelled himself yesterday

But the last few games that he's played in he's played pretty well. It seems that maybe he is becoming consistent. There comes a time when after playing well for a few games that perhaps this tag becomes inappropriate and it's enough to just say well done.... again.

The fact is that a decision has been made by someone (who's opinion is far more important than any of ours and should be respected as such) that he deserved a contract renewal and first team starts. On our current form there's not really that much to argue.

Personally I thought he was poor first half but his second half performance was next level. Would have been my MoM selection had Hutch not been as excellent as he was. He put Lee's goal on a plate for him let's not forget.

Changed the game at the start of the second half. He was on fire.

The first 25 to 30 minutes of the second half was the perfect centre-forward performance from Nuhiu.  He had Burnley in all sorts of trouble because he was unplayable.  We need that from him all match every match.

I was really surprised when he was replaced by Joao.  In would have left him on.

To be fair, every ball belted up to Nuhiu first half, he had 20 yards to run to get to the ball, none were really close to him. They got the ball within five yards of Vokes everytime, which gave him chance to set his body, and he won most. Plus, Nuhiu was up against Keane, who is very commanding in the air.

Second half, Nuhiu put himself up against the other centre half, and every ball more or less was played closer to him, and their centre half couldn't cope with him.

Not to mention the lack of protection he gets from seemingly every official. Must be some rule stating that Nuhiu can be mounted or used as a climbing wall without it being deemed a foul.

Indeed and if he were unplayable all match, every match, he'd be our most valuable player by a distance. As it is he's a good man to have around.
