Too much Attack Attack Attack

Recommended Posts

Anyone else think we are a little bit too gung ho away from home?

If we are playing a 4-4-2 would we better having at least one defensive wide midfielder say Helan rather than two more attacking wide men, Matias and sougou?

Or if we play both attacking wide men should we play the extra Man in midfield and just one up front?

Going on the away league games this season we definitely seem to leave ourselves too open in my opinion. However, CC doesn't like to go defensive, he likes to show what we can do to teams rather than being concerned about what they can do to us.

Can we find a balance in the last 10 or so away games? We certainly need to start picking up more wins or we'll simply not make the play-offs.

Unless you have a player capable of playing the lone striker role which I dont think we have cant see the reason for doing it.

So how did we manage last season then?

We weren't gung-ho at Reading last week when we tried to defend a single goal lead for an hour.

True, and we didn't lose the game so ultimately it kind of worked. What was not good about that game was how under the cosh we were. We need to find a balance between being more solid and being able to still cause other teams some problems.

Not been away that often but I have been thinking that when we have taken the lead we have not carried the threat on the break that I expected.

We have clever ball players who I would hope could exploit such situations.

I too am surprised how we seem to be quite easy to keep quiet away from home. I mean it's not been a disaster, we are ranked 14th in the away table but looking at our remaining away games but also it's not good enough because we are due a couple of poor home results.

I think the only issue we have is not having the luxury to play Hunt, Pudil, Lees and Loovens every week.

The defence wouldn't be an issue if we could play them as a unit every week.

That's injuries for you.

Need to improve the quality of our reserves in the summer to help manage outages better. Some of our 2nd string players are very average.

sitting back after going 1 up is no good for us we can't do it just lately our defence is very prone to a mistake or two as we keep finding out ,our strength is when we attack teams that is when we are most dangerous .the old *play to your strengths* comes to mind for me

It's probably as simple as playing the reading line up tho personally I prefer hutch at CB and Bannan CM, Forestieri at ten. However we would need another winger; judge would be ideal but hopefully Mcgeady can do the job.

But we had a more defensive line up with Bannan out wide and Forestieri in the number ten role.

We also played some slick attacking football early on and dominated the play, until we actually scored and then just sat back and invited Reading onto us for the rest of the game.
