New club crest

Recommended Posts

Maybe he believes that he has chosen the design which will five us the biggest global appeal. Maybe its a crest that he feels is more marketable, who knows?

Maybe its a crest which keeps our tradition and heritage yet is more recognisable as being an owl. Its a design that he wants to be synonymous with HIS Sheffield Wednesday.

We can speculate all night, but the fact is he has big plans for us, we should at least trust him and give him a chance.

New era, new badge. You'll get used to it, just like folks have gotten used to the central white stripe on he shirt

That's what Joseph goebbels said.

Sometimes there are things that are completely true in life, and one of those is sports clubs creating unfashionable products and designs. It happens everywhere, it's happened here. It's not as bad as it could have been, but it does suggest that Chansiri wants to completely overhaul the club. Whether you consider that as a good thing is debatable.

Overhaul isn't a bad thing.

But he's hardly "completely overhauling" here. He's changed the club crest, which has happened before in our history. And he's not changing it something we haven't seen before.

Manchester United's badge is a relatively modern reworking of what they had previously.  It's busy but it's not overly fetishising the past.

For a club like SWFC that's nowhere near a Manchester United on the global stage or on the success level, you grab whatever bit of brand recognition you can.  You can't fall back on a  treble or champions league places to help with globalization.

You're missing the point of what i'm saying.

Brand recognition comes when you offer a product that enough people want.

Sheffield Wednesday could wear a badge that was created by the greatest designer the world has ever known.

It wouldn't do anything to increase the fan base of the club without a successful team.

It doesn't matter what Manchester United's badge is, they'll be the world's biggest club whatever.

If Wednesday ever get to a position in the EPL where we're consistently winning things, we will increase global recognition.

What the badge is doesn't matter a jot.

We do have one USP, which is an unusual name.

But again, that will mean nothing to the rest of the world without a winning team.

It depends on how you view it. Personally I like it, the club has felt dated for more than a decade now. However, I am a little worried that he may be in the process of changing it into 'his' team. So far Chansiri has been fantastic for us, but I'm nervous - especially when you consider Hull and Cardiff - that we could be aiming for a complete brand overhaul and its his say at the end of the day.
