Miffed
Miffed, I'm in favour of the change and the traditional badge. My reply was to a member that feels our heritage is not important. Sorry to mis-quote you in that case mate.
daveyboy66
Heritage is important. Embrace it, love it, understand it. Rely on it too much and we start sounding like Leeds and their "vaunted" history, with nothing modern to fall back on, That's my point. Let's not fetishise old times. The "EST. 1867" in our minimal crest was all that was needed. ******* Leeds had NO heritage until 1963..no comparison...unless you're a leeds fan Edited January 24, 2016 by daveyboy66
ReginaldD
Our history is Waddle, Sheridan, Hirsty and Nilsson pumping them in with only the minimalist owl. Give over Sheffield Wednesday existed long before the players you mention. So many people who dislike this badge refer to wanting us to have had the current owl without the shield because it harks back to the time when they had their happiest memories of following Wednesday. But just because the only great period we've had in most people's living memories was the early 90's we shouldn't live in the past forever. Its time to make new memories and embrace the Chansiri era. Internationowl
Any chance you could give us a pic' where you turn around and look over your shoulder while staring directly into the camera? Just interested in the quality of stitching. With some boots hung over the shoulder?

And going back to the 50's is not living in the past? Looks like a rugby league shirt
MikeJ
With some boots hung over the shoulder? That would probably help, good thinking.
Miffed
then let's modernize the logo entirely. Maybe he believes that he has chosen the design which will five us the biggest global appeal. Maybe its a crest that he feels is more marketable, who knows? Maybe its a crest which keeps our tradition and heritage yet is more recognisable as being an owl. Its a design that he wants to be synonymous with HIS Sheffield Wednesday. We can speculate all night, but the fact is he has big plans for us, we should at least trust him and give him a chance. New era, new badge. You'll get used to it, just like folks have gotten used to the central white stripe on he shirt
Paul..
On first viewing I wouldn't say I immediately love it, certainly don't hate it, I think it'll grow on me more when I see it on a new kit.
daveyboy66
And going back to the 50's is not living in the past? So the 60s team that beat Barca and Roma are not worth celebrating then?

The "EST. 1867" in our minimal crest was all that was needed. Hang on, five minutes ago "history belonged in a museum and not on a shirt" I'm not clinging to the past, I just respect the decision to revert to something traditional as opposed to going for something new which would be a minefield and to be frank a distraction we don't need. darklord
So the 60s team that beat Barca and Roma are not worth celebrating then? Only if we wore the right badge Edited January 24, 2016 by darklord
The Batman
Any chance you could give us a pic' where you turn around and look over your shoulder while staring directly into the camera? Just interested in the quality of stitching. Think that's what the owl's doing in the new (old) badge.
