Hooper - the talks are over. Welcome back to SWFC

Recommended Posts

your concerned about his wages? Well that's big of you. If Gary helps us to get promoted, his wages what ever they are will be a drop in the ocean. UTO

You're not concerned? Well that's rash of you. Of course if he gets us promoted its no issue, but what if he doesn't? We're on a great run but promotion is certainly not a given, we can't get too cocky. 30k a week is not sustainable long term in the Champ.

Would be a great signing but wages are a big issue, more so than fee IMO.

No promotion is a given, but you have to give yourself the best possible chance. Just a question how much do you think the players who started today earn each week. UTO

Hooper's price has most definitely gone up over the course of his loan period, you can't have it all ways. We got him fit and back to form, established that he's still every inch the proven goalscorer.

He needs to be signed, regardless of what we ultimately have to pay for him, he's potentially worth about £100 million to us right now.

Don't worry, He'll still be watching from his box

He does actually have a box though  :manager:

The best thing for us right now is to get Hooper signed ASAP and for the right price. He's on form and exactly what we need to keep us in the top 6, maybe even push for higher, with Lees and Westwood coming back really fancy our team to give the top 6 a go. However, highly doubt Norwich will let him leave so soon, having just sold Grabban and Wolfswinkel, they only have 2 recognised strikers atm, Jerome and Mbokani, with Lafferty looking very likely to leave this window as well after being frozen out all season...have a feeling they may try and keep Hooper for a few weeks if they fail to sign another striker and give him one last crack.

Would be interesting to know how much £££ it would take to sign him, if Norwich signed him for £5million on a 3 yr deal which should expire July 2016, could be the case they might chose to sell him in January now for a reduced fee? Hopefully if we shift out some dead wood on loan like Lachman, Dielna, Melo and Bus would free up the wage bill to afford a quality player like Hooper, (rumoured to be on around 30k a week). As much as it pains me to say it I would even be content with us selling Lavery if it meant securing Hooper on a permanent deal

Will be an interesting few weeks ahead, if we were to get promoted the financial implications are HUGE so spending a lot now may be very worth our while!

Hopefully QPR won't be looking at Hooper now with them selling Austin today. Let's get this deal wrapped up ASAP.

Wolves also have money burning a hole in their pocket and are after a striker to replace Afobe.

We need to get Hooper signed ASAP as you say . Any fanying about and we will lose him.

6 goals in 6 games

Unfortunatly hes gone back to norwich so hes fair game for every team in the league

Unless he picks us out of loyalty for believing in him but dont see that much in footballers these days all about the wedge they can get

He is but if your hooper who would you pick? Boro yes going up. Derby are wobbling and we are up there with the rest and he is already here with us and likes or players and manager

DC will deliver him.

Its just the wages I'm concerned about. Would be great to cut to 20k but will Hooper accept?

Dan he came on loan cos he was a risk rather than a dead cert.

He has just scored 6 in 6 and 4 in 2. I think we can safely say he isnt going to take a drop in pay.

We cant play hard ball. We just need to sign him and enjoy the goals.
