Herb
That Norwich game was bizarre. Dublin played his last game and was at the heart of Norwich tearing us apart. We were 1-0 down when Grant (?) made a blinding save and we were in trouble in the live table I believe. Came back second half and absolutely walked it. Great send off for Dublin as well. owlandished
That Norwich game was the one where that Norwich player retired, forgot his name, we applauded him warmly anyway, can remember talking to some Norwich fans on the tram, lovely people oh, the famous one who always liked a warm hand on his exit? OwlLuke
That Norwich game was 2007/08 not 2008/09 and we needed a win to secure Championship survival. Yeah sos that was what I meant
Guest Kagoshimaowl
So what you are saying is if we get over 30,000 we will basically win every game. If we can get 29,999 I promise I will fly over for every game!!

heppers
I went to Wembley in '91. There were over 77,000 there. I think this proves if I go others follow. I should get a free season ticket.
horny owl
I bumped into Dion Dublin walking out of Harrods in London soon after that last game he played at Hillsborough. I was wearing a Wednesday top and he shook my hand and said he'd always have time for Wednesday after that send off He's a nice, humble chap. And a closet owl. clud17
Biggest match i went to was the cup quarter final in 87 against Coventry, think there were 48k in Hillsborough for that one. The Kop went mental when scored the equaliser. We lost that one though so im not convinced the theory holds up.
Pompeyowl
And most of those clubs have gone downhill since Apart from Arsenal, Boro, Palace and Norwich. So what you are saying is if we get over 30,000 we will basically win every game. If we can get 29,999 I promise I will fly over for every game!! Clearly not, as many of them are draws. matthefish2002
I find it a bit surprising us not losing for 10 years when we get over 30,000 at home. Even as a child I always had us down of us bottling the big games.

Guest _Ibbo_
I suspect If we ever go back up.... Having a proper old school football stadium, with big stands close to the pitch.... might well be a big advantage., Arsenal shrunk. I can imagine other teams doing the same...... Neal M
The Norwich game was the last time I set foot in Hillsborough. Next trip to Britain tentatively scheduled for early August 2017. Hoping this time it finally coincides with a home game. I move a lot of concrete on the QVC.

However, our record outside the top flight when getting over 30,000 is staggering. 18/2/06 v Pigs - Lost 1-2 - 33,439 1/4/01 v Pigs - Lost 1-2 - 38,433 1/11/00 v Pigs - won 2-1 - 32,283 8/5/91 v Bristol City - won 3-1 - 31,706 4/5/91 v Millwall - won 2-1 - 30,278 27/4/91 Barnsley - won 3-1 - 30,392 13/4/91 M'boro - won 2-0 - 30,598 27/2/91 v Chelsea - won 3-1 - 34,669 3/11/90 v Oldham 2-2 - 34,669 7/5/84 v Man City 0-0 36,673 19/11/83 v Newcastle - won 4-2 - 41,134 24/11/81 Barnsley - 2-2 - 30,861 3/5/80 Carlisle - 0-0 - 32,724 26/12/79 Pigs - 4-0 - 49,309 So basically, in the past 36 years, when we have been outside of the top flight and got over 30,000 - Sheff Utd are the ONLY team to beat us. P 27 W17 D8 L2 It just shows what a difference an intimidating home support can make.
Pulsar
Who remembers this one? 49350 v Liverpool League Cup Jan 83? Great night nearly so-called the champions even though we were second tier. We took 9000 to the replay and whilst we lost we sang long and loud "we'll be back". Am pretty sure we took 15,000 to Anfield for the replay? I'm certain i have an old match report confirming this. Biggest match i went to was the cup quarter final in 87 against Coventry, think there were 48k in Hillsborough for that one. The Kop went mental when scored the equaliser. We lost that one though so im not convinced the theory holds up. Am also certain it was Hirst who scored our goal in front of the Kop? Was a cracking following from Coventry that day.
