gurujuan
I haven't checked, but wasn't that a home game against Bournemouth? Wonder what happened to them? I thought it was Colchester, but you might be right It certainly left us all stunned
Kopparberg
If the cogs click, we could be in for some fun when they start turning on a regular basis. I couldn't not think about Chris O'Grady when I read that... I think I'm scarred from threads when he was at Barnsley
Kopparberg
(And he definitely isn't a marquee signing) I can't see us getting a new striker before Saturday, so I'm hoping Joao is the Portuguese Troy Deeney.
Southie_Owl
Sadly Nuhiu isn't going to be good enough for a top six challenge so I would start Lucas Joao on Saturday and get a top centre forward in asap. It would be nice if Chansiri is saving a big signing for last - to be a new striker
Glaser
So, all other business complete, 2 days left to find a striker, if we want to start the season at full strength Not really. We wouldn't be expecting a striker to start Saturday, straight from the off, just like Joao won't be starting vs Bristol. Would love to see May going back to Scotland and a player who has done it at this level replace him

Nuhiu, May, Bus, and to a certain extent, Lavery, are all players you'd introduce from the bench to change things, it's good to have different options up front, but we probably need another player like Joao if we plan to use the 4-3-3 system

When Joao came on he got into spaces and helped keep possession much better. I would throw Joao in from the start against Bristol as it will be a surprise to their defence as much as to Joao
swfc-dan
I'd like to see 2 proven strikers brought in. We possess inexperienced potential upfront. I'd give three or four of em a chance, maybe loan some of them out but if we're genuine and serious about breaking into the top half, then there's no room for sentiment and we should be as ruthless as we were with Gray and the likes of Buxton and bring in better upfront and get rid of one or two of our current strikers. I'd love for us to bring in someone like Kenwyne Jones, Ricardo Vaz Te, David Nugent or Glenn Murray. Some good names there though I don't think Nugent would be what we need anymore. Kenwyne and Murray would be ideal for us, hold up/link up players who are strong and are penalty box players.

NYCOWL
Everything about our recruitment so far suggests to me that we will sign a proven centre forward before the window ends. We've made upgrades on every other position that required improvement.

I hope. It would disappoint me if, despite the takeover, we head into another season with Nuhiu as our senior striker. If that happens, have we really progressed as far as we needed to? wharncliffeowl
We have so many attacking players now that I don't think we need another striker unless he's of top quality. I don't think Kenwyne is that much better than what we have and I think he's past being a marquee signing. People seem to have wrote Bus off already without seeing what he can do this season and Lavery will fit into our system nicely. The midfield seems very exciting atm and the strikers we have deserve a crack at it with better service. This seems sensible.

Bluesteel
Biggs suggested 10m for a couple of strikers, he gets stick and caveats his tweets but I think he does have his sources. Some money spent on Joao, around 2-3m. Labelled one for the future, hinting that we may look for another. Despite that I can't see us buying one in, I think it'll be a loan when the premier league squads are finalised

Utah Owl
If we'd signed Bus in this transfer window rather than the last one do you think people would still be saying we need another striker? That's the point, we still don't know exactly what we have. May & Nuhiu have previously had to ****** at the few chances they had due to poor service, Bus was out injured and Joao is as yet untested. We have yet to see what any of them can really do when provided with good service and a regular stream of chances. It may just be that we already have that promising young striker (or even two of them) on our hands just like we did in 83/84 (Bannister and Varadi) and 90/91 (Hirst and Williams). If they aren't up to scratch then I'd rather see us sign someone who can play for us for 5+ years and take it up a level or two than someone like Jones who is getting past his sell by date. Admittedly Rhodes fits that bill but he is considerably overpriced, there must be others who would be a more reasonable cost. Admittedly Rhodes fits that bill but he is considerably overpriced, there must be others who would be a more reasonable cost. The point is, do we need to wait and see? We had a similar situation at full back, where youngsters Palmer and Vemijl, two inexperienced lads, had quite frankly made a decent fist of their right back duties, or perhaps in Vermijls case, hadn't had the opportunities. But we decided to upgrade anyway, and brought in Hunt. He offers experience, and he's good at getting forward, generally nearer the finished product than Palmer and Vermijl. We didn't wait and see then, so why do we have to wait and see with the strikers? We need someone who is an upgrade on what we've seen so far, or someone who offers something different. There's no need to wait, if there's someone out there who fits the bill.
