Grimsby were talking about a new ground 20 years ago near the Laceby Roundabout.

They'll still be in Cleethorpes for another 20 at this rate.

Grimsby took out a massive insurance policy following the Tidal Wave of 1953 in the belief that another one would come along soon. Still they wait lol

Looks like Fox Valley shopping centre from the outside.

Depressing to think Leicester were pretty much us just over a decade ago. Imagine if we'd have got the World Cup and had our stadium renovated to 46k and modernised. The knock on effect with the quality of the facilities would have made us a prime club to level up. We'd have attracted strong investment most likely and that might have got us into the Prem or at the very least enabled us to invest heavily on training facilities with the stadium not needing any attention. The right people could've had us in the Prem and if they had half a clue about ticket pricing and marketing we could be well on our way to filling up a 46k stadium. Then if they had half a clue about what was going on on the pitch we could've been buying some of the best talent we could afford, employing an exciting manager and trying to make this wonderful stadium a venue capable of hosting a European fixture. The sheer momentum from such a levelling up process within the club and Sheffield Wednesday community would propel further money and success the way of the club and European qualification would be the benchmark. The riches of the Premier league would be a given and we'd be one of the top clubs in the country.

Anyway... hopefully we can put out a side that can avoid defeat to Swansea.

Might be a tad ambitious with the last part

That's one of the best fairy stories I've read in a long time.  The myth of our big support really is strong amongst our fan base.  We've averaged over 30k fans in a season precisely never since the Premier League came in to existence.  Exactly how are we filling a 46k stadium unless it's a play-off game or end of season celebration?

Maybe we wouldn't get 46k if capacity allowed but after over 20 years outside the top flight I'm certain we would average over 30k even if the ticket prices remain sky high.

Maybe in the first season but I'd be amazed if we could sustain it (unless we were up the top which is a fanciful idea).

It was all an exaggeration and a dream to be honest. The Swansea bit at the end is the reality.

Whenever Wednesday and Leicester have been in the same league we've always had significantly larger gates and average attendances.

The difference really is just down to the last few years where they have been incredibly successful. That is what being in the top half dozen or so clubs in the EPL does for you. It would do the same for us too should it ever happen.
