Id imagine with his contract status that he would be coming in on loan, loans won't be made for a long time yet, not until squads start to take shape.

Isgrove wouldnt be a starter but more of a squad player, its not normally the case to start so early bolstering a squad that you havent really got yet.

We will still have a budget and the standard of squad player will be determined on the initial quality we manage to get in.

Key additions first ie first 11.

So its a no from me, we can re visit this in August if still needed.

No point in revisiting players who made little or no impression last season, especially if we have the resources to bring in better

People need to lower their expectations.

You're talking about a loan signing.

McGugan, Bamford, Bent, Kenwyne.... The sort of loan signings that are worth going for. The likes of Keane and Isgrove are just pointless gambles. Very rarely will you get lucky like Brentford did with Pritchard.

Chairman wants promotion. If it's loans, they have to be proven quality for me

See the bit in bold.

I don't think we should be too disrespectful to the lad, once the signings start happening then we can make a call on it, before then we might make ourselves look stupid.

If we have got maguire and Helan on the wings then a player like Isgrove would be a god send.

Too early to be so dismissive.

Could argue that the hike in ST and Box prices suggest that there isn't the amount we think there might be time will tell

We need wingers who can attack the byline with pace and pull decent crosses over into the 6 yard line area..

Not try to cut in around the edge of the box all the time.

Frustrates me that we had nobody able or willing to do that last season.

How many goals are created like this.. lots

Old-fashioned wingers are dying out, and with good reason: a 2010 study found that crosses accounted for about 16% of all goals scored in Champions League games, and only one of every 92 crosses actually produced a goal, making it a very inefficient use of possession.

A more recent study of Premier League matches over the past 5 seasons discovered that the average team surrenders possession 73 times for every one cross that leads to a goal. One conclusion from the study was that the average team would score an additional 0.57 goals a game if they ditched crosses and simply elected to start their attack all over again. The longer a team spend trying to win back possession lost as a result of crossing the ball, the less time they have to create genuine openings, resulting in a lower goal tally.

Pacy wingers getting to the byline might get fans off our seats, but there's an argument that they actually hinder a team more than they help them.

Havent read all this thread but I cant believe we have people saying he isnt good enough  :ghoulguy:

He will become a very good player and showed some real class at times - surround him with some better players and he could be a real quality signing.

When he goes on to be a prem player, those same fans will be saying, why didnt we try to get him in?
