Guest Bournemouth Owl
I was listening to talk sport today and they were chatting to Brian Deane, he was saying that while he was at Sheffield United Trevor Francis offered £3 million for him, his plan was to partner him with David Hirst. He said he just couldn't join Wednesday and moved to Leeds. It may be old news for some, but it was new to me.

Beast of Boulogne
Francis should have been sacked with immediate effect on the strength of it.

Lincs Owl
Showed how ambitious we were at the time. We could have had TWO England internationals playing up front for us. Ah well, back to May, Nuhiu, Madine et al. Maybe they'll improve.

Think we were just outgunned by Blackburn's mad spending around that time.
owlinexile
Not any better than Mark Bright tbh - don't think he would have significantly improved us.

I reckon if you asked Waddle and Sheridan they'd pick Bright to play with over Deane 10 times out of 10.
Guest Bournemouth Owl
Really? Never knew that I think he was at Southampton at the time, he went to Blackburn for £5 million, Hurst and Shearer what a partnership.... Seems ridiculous now that we wouldn't pay the extra
