Dave Barber on Radio Sheffield

As a young lad on a match day when I used to come to Hillsborough with my Grandad, I spent a lot of time with Dave Barber, as invariably he didn't have much to do, and my Grandad was working at the ground. He was a really lovely bloke.

Last time I saw him was at the Wednesdayite do we arranged with Dave Jones at the Hirsty Bar, I didn't recognise him at first but he knew me, and when he'd introduced himself it was lovely to catch up, and reintroduce him to my Dad who's in his late 70s now.

I believe he did leave following the Hillsborough Disaster as it upset him greatly and spending so much time virtually alone in the stadium in front of those buckled fences and barriers can't have been easy

South stand ain't the problem. There are ways to artificially provide light.

All comes down to $$$$

That was Dave's theory on RadioHeaven.  I went to a very boring IT fair at the Emirates Stadium a while ago - spent some time watching theses big frames creeping across the turf with fantastically bright lamps to encourage growth I suppose
