Beholder
Ok he is buzzing around like a wasp at the moment desperately trying to get on the scoresheet again. But he stopped GTF from scoring by running into his space. He needs to relax a bit and use a bit more anticipation. Make the right runs- get his mind in tune with the rest of the players. Instead he is hindering himself and us by wanting it too much. All the players seem to be playing for themselves in the final 3rd. Drenthe wasting a golden opportunity when we were 3 on 2. Scoring goals is not as hard as they are making it. We are great at defending, but I don't think I've ever seen us as bad at attacking. Looking clueless at the moment. Like I said in another thread, GTF should have been calmer and put a name on the ball before Stevie steamed in. GTF was brought in for experience after all... I thought our play with May looked better yesterday. Players are spotting his runs more at least. We just don't have the quality to find him precisely. The only time we really looked in tune was when we stopped lobbing it over the top for him to chase and Maghoma, of all people, found him with that neat through ball when he hit the bar & post. Does he want it a bit too much, probably. But that's him being young & frustrated. He's gone from pooing goals for St Johnstone to not being able to buy a goal here. He's also playing next to Gary Taylor-Fletcher. He's basically up front on his own with central midfielders stood on the half way line & two wingers who, 9 times out of ten, want to take the whole defence on...spin around....and take them on again. IstillhateSteveBould
Just get him up front and give him the ball where he wants it. He'll score plenty. He's the absolute least of our worries
TrickyTrev
I don't think he's trying too hard, I just think he's adapting to a higher level of football at the moment. I thought he played very well yesterday and was a real problem for Huddersfields back line all afternoon, given time he'll score plenty at this level. areNOTwhatTHEYseem
The chance he had where Maghoma played him in and he hit the bar and post was one of the few times I've seen one of our players read one of May's runs. That's what he needs more of if we're going to see the best of him.
Guest wilyfox
I think he's snatching at things, being fully aware how long it's been since he scored. You could say he was unlucky for striking bar and post yday, or you can say he failed to hit the target from about 10 yards or whatever it was. He just needs one to fly in to end his drought and settle him down again.
mike312
I think he's doing fine. We semed a bit better going forward and by all accounts McGugan didn't have a good game. These seemed to be a bit more space going forward and McGugan did have a shot! Was the Brighton game the last time one of our central midfielders had a shot? This will free May up to make the little runs in behind. I have a feeling he's on the cusp of bagging a few.
GY-owl.4
Maghoma slipped it through to him away at ....cardiff i think, at 0-0 May rounded the keeper and slotted it into the empty net - before a defender slid in and cleared it off the line! While i dont think Maghoma has been very good of late - its weird how he slips these little balls in for Stevie May whenever he finds himself on the part of the pitch he used to do all his damage for Burton... May will be fine. will come good.
Bluesteel
He just needs to keep up what he was doing and he will score. The GTF thing was a bit of a freak occurance

Kanye West
Maybe he just isn't good enough. I watched him particularly yesterday and he does buzz about but there seems to be no end product. Getting a million goals in Scotland means nothing, my mothers 74 and in a wheelchair and she could play up front for St Johnstone. For me one of his downfalls yesterday was the booking, he should have clattered the keeper who quite clearly did him rather than the other way around and when their players came at him he should have been snarling at them, not sheepishly walking away. Saying that I'm a patient bloke and prepared to give him the benefit at the moment and will be ecstatic if he proves me wrong. He got one good fùcking ball all game and he hit the bar from it, Stevie May is the least of our worries.

Yes scottish football isn't a high standard but May wouldn't be playing for scotland if he wasn't actually good enough. If the team give him some more chances then he will score loads. I remember the joke that Andy Cole needed 5 chances to score at Man utd, I bet May's wishing he'd get half that many opportunities

Ronio
From what I say yesterday, I think May was making decent runs off the last man which could have resulted in a few goals if the ball had been delivered better. Those 2 clashes with the keeper were pretty close. I just think we need one of our midifelders to put in an inch perfect pass and May will score all day long. I think he is still adjusting to the Chamionship but is slowly getting better. He was unlucky with that shot that rebounded off the bar and post. Mr Farrell
The guy has goals in him once he settles. Potentially the best striker we've actually owned for a long time. We won't see the best of him until next season.

Totally agree first time I've seen him played in like that - and he nearly scored from a ridiculous angle - if we had a decent CM he would have scored a shed load
Elvin Parsnip
We haven't had a decent ball playing CM since Watson - May is a box player and needs and deserves someone who can spot his runs and play him in around the penalty area - even when he creates his own chances our midfield is way to deep to support him or follow up
trevdi9
goalscoring is a knack that you don't lose if you have it , yes you can try to hard and yes you have barren spells but you more than make up for it when the lucky one goes in and breaks the spell , may will come good just needs the ball to nestle in the net for the start of things ,He has all the right movement and can score a proved the nets are the same size down here as they are north of the border ,
