Striker refused move but deal agreed

Recommended Posts

I'd rather the club said nothing than tell us a 100 times about players we could've signed.

There wasn't anyone, that's just what we are being told IMO. We'd not get to agreeing a deal before we know he isn't bothered about a move

Perhaps they're telling us to let us know at least they are trying.

This might be a really random theory, amongst all the theories, but could it be that he just didn't want to come here. Not everything has to be a conspiracy.

Can't see that theory being accepted. It has to be financial or incompetence.

A striker coming here, also has to do the work of a midfielder.

The player or should I say the club involved was Stoke city the player in question no idea (so I was told ) by a very reliable source

Don't see what the fuss is, refusal to go on loan must happen all the time. Some of our players have done it over the last season or so. It isn't necessarily about football of course.

Spot on. Not sure what the OP's getting at.

There are thousands of pro footballers under contract. At any one time there'll be hundreds of these subject to potential transfer/loan enquiries. Many enquiries will get as far as preliminary negotiations. Inevitably, many of these negotiations hit the rocks. Happens all the time and it’s no big deal. Doubt Owls more prone to negotiation breakdown than other clubs.

As other posters have said, just move on to next target. Or have another go for same target, with slightly different offer. Which is possibly the situation here.

Cras ineptitude on Gray's part.

Was he not watching the Rotherham game.

He has not delivered and comes out with some garbage yert again.

He is starting to come across as a manager way out of his depth.

Gray? You don't really think that he does the negotiating do you?

After Wednesday (not SG) have made initial contact, SG might speak to target players in general terms. But all 'pay and rations' discussions & negotiations are someone else's dept. Assuming there is a target for your criticism, it's not Stuart Gray.

I doubt the frustration is based on this particular incident, it's more likely to be about the fact that it's almost December, and we still haven't brought this striker in. We've been trying since the summer, so maybe we are doing something, that could perhaps be done better

Agreed. Does anyone genuinely think that this does anything to appease the fans?

It is preferable to silence. There's some attempt at transparency too.

Not ideal but club is in an invidious situation regarding how to communicate on transfer goings on.

And Gray is still hopeful he will have someone in by tomorrow. I wonder who he has in mind now?

Jonathan Walters

Could have been yes, he's saying that he's up for the challenge of fighting for his place at Stoke. That's if it was Stoke though
