Reckon this guy will sign.

May, Marshall and Tardieu.

From today. St Johnstone are basically just wanting the £800,000.

ST JOHNSTONE boss Tommy Wright admits he cannot understand why more clubs have not tried to take striker Stevie May off his hands.

The Perth club are currently locked in talks with SkyBet Championship side Rotherham after the Millers made their second bid for the Scotland Under-21 international in less than a year.

Saints are sticking to their guns as they demand an £800,000 fee.

And Wright insists no matter what happens, last season’s 27-goal hitman will be going nowhere before Thursday’s Europa League clash with Spartak Trnava.

But after watching Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon stump up £3million for Dundee United youngster Ryan Gauld, Wright admits he is mystified that other big-name clubs have not taken a chance on May.

He said: “Negotiations with Rotherham are on-going but if any deal was to be done it won’t be done before Thursday.

“The one thing that does surprise me is that no other club has come in for Stevie.

“We’ve seen Ryan Gauld go to a big club abroad. He is going to be terrific player but if you look at what he has achieved on the pitch and what Stevie has, it’s miles apart.

ut that is football. It’s all about opinions.

“People will look at Stevie and make a decision about whether he is right for their club. But that is what surprises me, that more have not bid for him.”

Rotherham sealed promotion to England’s second flight after winning last season’s League One play-offs.

But Wright insists Scottish boss Steve Evans could struggle to keep hold of the 21-year-old for long.

“I have always said that Stevie is someone who could go to a big club,” said the Northern Irishman.

“I’m not saying that Rotherham are not a big club but I feel that if he does go there he will have the potential to move on again.

“That’s what they probably see in him as well. It’s not about whether Rotherham are a big enough club, it’s whether he gets a platform to play and improve.”

The William Hill Scottish Cup winners travel to Slovakia trailing Trnava 2-1 after a flat display at McDiarmid last week.

They have recorded some memorable away results in Europe over the past 12 months against the likes of Rosenborg, FC Minsk and Luzern.

But Wright admits his side will flop out of the tournament if they perform as poorly as they did in Perth last week.

He said: “We know we need to score two goals. But there were a couple of spells in the first game when we did put them under pressure and they did not look comfortable and that gives us hope.

“They did not surprise me because these countries are always producing players who are comfortable on the ball. If you give them enough of the ball they will hurt you, but that’s what we did.

“We didn’t stop them playing but that is something we will have to work on.

“They were physical like we thought they would be. There was a lot of fouls and a stronger referee could have shown a few more bookings. But that doesn’t hide the fact we didn’t play well.”

Marshall yes, the other two I'd never heard of not long ago. Of course I'm not saying they won't be good, I just mean I wouldn't be overly excited at those other 2 as iv never seen them play. Would be nice if we could bring in proven championship quality and those other 2 aren't.

Don't think we're the ones to be talking about meltdowns right now

True, can't imagine what will happen on here if/when the takeover falls through
