Without doing any research it astounds me to see how many Wednesday fans want to write off a player just because of his age. Yet many wanted to embrace Andy Johnson with his whopping 32 goals in 8 years at 33 years old.

No its not his age or his game:goal ratio.

It's the combination of the two that is worrying.

A 34 year old who has maintained a good ratio would be OK

A 22 year old with a low ratio, but evidence for likely improvement would be OK

Go back, do the regression analysis. Why not go the whole hog and conduct some Principal Component Analysis to ensure you have the right set of explanatory variables and not fallen foul of multicollinearity. Then check goodness of fit and compute the confidence interval. Finally, we'll know.

or just look at the players recent record

My guess is a season return of 4-10 goals for this player (just based on his last couple of season)

What is your guess?

Cleared of a rape charge a while ago

The case was dismissed by the investigating judge due to lack of evidence.

He wasn't "cleared" in the sense of their being a full blown trial and being found innocent.

I move a lot of concrete on the QVC.
