areNOTwhatTHEYseem
As any jaded Owl will tell you, first impressions can be deceiving. But which Wednesday player most convincingly persuaded you they were something they weren't upon first viewing? This could be the player who looked like they'd struggle to pass water but went on to be an all-time great, or those who looked like a world-beater only to be an abject failure. Personally, I don't think my dad will ever forgive me for claiming Zayatte was 'definitely a cut above what we already have and probably too good for the Championship' after a few too many Ribenas before the Rangers friendly. licule1975
If I'm completely honest, would have to be Chris Kirkland I thought he'd always be injured but proved to be a quality and vital part of the team
Eaton_Swfc
John Bostock - thought he'd be great, wasn't. Bothroyd - ditto.
areNOTwhatTHEYseem
I was so excited when we signed Jeffers, too. Can't believe I ever thought he'd notch 20 a season for us! It's the hope that kills you. Edited July 14, 2014 by areNOTwhatTHEYseem

manicowl
Dejan Stefanovic. He was awful when we first got him yet we got a few good seasons out of him and he had a decent top-flight career in England.
Last_Great_Hope
Agbonlahor. Thought he was all pace, no product and he would never make in the Prem. 269 Prem appearance later, seems I was wrong.

HOOTIE AND THE SHIT TU
Darren Potter was very deceptive He was much slower than he looked. Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

POWP
even after his dodgy start I always thought Taylor would come good for us. not sure if it was his fault it didn't happen or the management just not wanting to give him another try, but definitely him on recent years... and maybe zayatte (still time here tho)
eckington owl
Reda. I wanted to cry after the first few times I saw him.
FlyingOwl
After watching Zayette vs Rangers I also thought he was going to be a handy centre half. I thought Reda was poo poo before he moved to left back.
