Guest IN MILAN WE RUST
Has he any pace because we are crying out for some at the back Runs like hes pulling a fridge! nah wouldnt say slow but wether he has enough speed to get him out of trouble in the championship im not so sure, im all for young hungry raw talent coming to hillsborough but there has to be enough ability to succeed and then kick on
Guest IN MILAN WE RUST
Yeah; because challenging consecutive promotions is unheard of at that level... You missed the point mate, the quote said its very likely he will be playing at a higher level next season and thats pretty obvious with scunny getting promoted

gurujuan
Often people misunderstand the clubs intentions when making these type of signings. Don't know whether it's applicable in this case, or whether there's even anything in this rumour, but often fans confuse these type of signings as a solution to our immediate needs. We saw it in our first season in the championship, when people were unable to separate players signed for the then and now, from ones signed for us to develop. We will probably bring in half a dozen new players this summer, but maybe as many again, but for the development squad.
cowl
If he can play for 40 games then he is already an improvement on Gooch. Give the lad a chance before you slate him. Actually Onyewu was fit for 20 out of the 24 games since he'd signed. At that rate Onyewu would've been fit for just over 42 games had he been here all season. In terms of injuries Onyewu showed a fair amount of resilience last season. He picked up knocks and niggles but he shook them off in a reasonable time frame. I'd say Loovens was more injury prone. At 23 though I'd guess that if we do sign this player then we'd be looking for him to be pushing to be involved in the first team.
Guest Kagoshimaowl
Don't know owt about him really, but assuming Gooch and Loovens would be first choice, he must be a better back up than Zayatte.

sweetsheri
An essential requirement for our back four next season Dave. I think we need organisation ahead of pace. Burnley's didn't have the jamaican relay team last year yet they were organised and hard working, as such they had the meanest defence. Defending starts from the front, and for me our strikers and wide players just don't close the ball down quickly enough or with any kind of hunger

We need a Semedo type always in there.... plus cover for absences.
Guest CageFightingOwl
Right lets apply a bit of common sense. We have offered contracts to Glenn Loovens and Oguchi Onyewu. We have to assume that both of those players sign, that would leave us with Loovens, Onyewu and Zayatte. We would still need another CB, why would we not sign a younger CB with potential? It makes perfect sense. Canavan came through at Scunny with them in the Championship and was highly thought of. Since then he's dropped down the Leagues with them. They have managed to stop the downward spiral this season and have managed to get promoted back to League One. We might need our 4th choice CB to play games this season much like Miguel did last season, we cant rely on a 18 year old. Canavan for his age is reletively experienced, with time on his side. Like someone mentioned already CB's get better with age, probably hitting his prime about 30. Im far from a clapper but this wouldnt be a bad move. If Loovens or Onyewu dont sign then that would need to be looked at then. Canavan still seems a bit raw, will only get better playing and training with experienced CB's like Loovens and Gooch. Relax lads, this one aint bad.

Guest LEGEND
Not sure how anyone can slate this potential signing. Young CB with 70 games already, scoring 10 goals..... Just been a massive undefeated run and got promoted. We ned more players like this. Winners. It'll be nice to sign a player making his way up the leagues, rather than declining down them. Guest IN MILAN WE RUST
Just think at 23 if he had the potential to play alot higher someone would of snapped him up by now, im happy were are being linked to players of that age but for me quality beats quantity and at best he would only be a back up

Good point, If we'd have signed Vardy from Fleetwood imagine the outcry on here
