Guest wilyfox
If we sign two 10 goal strikers that still gets us 20 a season . Which equates to Maguire+Nuhiu+2. Not raising the bar that high, is it...
FlyingOwl
I'd take him. Another who's bound to knock in 10 goals in this side. I'd rather have 2 or 3 lads getting 10-15 rather than spunk all our wages on one "20 goal a season striker" If that striker gets injured, falls out of form or fails completely then you have nothing to fall back on. Mcormack scored 30 for Leeds and they still only finished a place above us. With Maguire, Antonio, Novak, Lavery, Madine and Nuhiu...we're bound to get two of them hitting 10-15 each. We have goals in this team. Our defence is the problem. Edited May 14, 2014 by FlyingOwl
Saxondale
Really don't understand who some people think we will be signing. These are the type of signings we make, you'd think people would've got their head round it by now.
Bluesteel
Positive write up about him here, but in my mind he's a League 1 striker and not what we need if we want to progress: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/birmingham-city-end-season-report-7110631 I notice he has also played wide left and behind the striker in a similar formation to the one Gray likes to play away from home
Bluesteel
Which equates to Maguire+Nuhiu+2. Not raising the bar that high, is it... If maguire and nuhiu are scoring as well though it wont matter. We scored quite a few goals in the last few months, strikers, wingers all chipping in. We just couldnt defend.
RUMBELOWS91
This is a Championship player, proven, who would probably be at the top end of our wages structure. Confuses me who people on here think we have in our realistic sights, and budget.Exactly.Every year it's the same. When will the penny drop? Guest CageFightingOwl
Meh. Good age and proven in the Championship. He's nothing like anyone we currently have. If anything he's a hard working frontman like keogh. Grabs a few goals. Wouldnt be unhappy if he was 1 of 2.
Guest wilyfox
Really don't understand who some people think we will be signing. That appears to be the saying of the week. Been reeled off so many times. Novak does a similar job to those we already have - and would command a transfer fee. A not so cheap option who would add very little. If we didn't have Maguire and Lavery, Novak might have been useful; we need different.
Bluesteel
The OP suggests that we have enquired, it probably wont go much further than that anyway. Given that everyone is suggesting we will only be looking at bosmans, if the OP is correct then this is quite good news.
the gaffer
Novak is a very hardworking striker, who at 26 years old is reaching his peak, can cover positions, knows the division well and scored 11 goals in a poor Birmingham side. Solid signing if true. Add Fryatt in that department, and the side has alot off attacking goal threats- Fryatt- Novak- Nuhiu- Lavery- Maguire- Maghoma-Antonio There is goals in that team, that is certain! Early rumours (Gunning, Newton, Rog, Fryatt, Novak) are the type of player we will realistically be targeting, people with other ideas will we disappointed come August! Guest ka58
I disagree, and think Lavery/Novak are of similar ilk. They're not in any way.
daveyboy66
Good championship player who has not had the chance to play in a good footballing side....only 25 as well..he'll be a good addition
southportdc
Saw him a few years back rip Southport apart. That was the Conference North playoffs like.
NeonLeon
Always thought he looks like a centre back converted into a striker. Ridiculously hard working though. Depends who you were putting him with really. If he's doing the running for someone like a Fryatt/Baldock then he'd be worth getting.
adelphi1867
It's all speculation, what we need is some one who can give the likes of Nuhiu and Madine the crosses they can feed off, before we bring in any more strikers.
gurujuan
Novak and Nuhiu up front, oh lawd
ed_tomassi
Novak makes sense. Would work very hard for the team and fits in Gray's preferred systems. Tidy on the ball and puts away a reasonable portion of his chances. Not a world beater or a mouth watering signing at this point, but he's 25 and the kind of player Gray may be able to get more out of.
rob_owl_92
Just depends on how willing Birmingham are to let him go. If they're willing to offload him in our price range (cheap) then I would be worried as to why.
