dan27
Yeah I wouldn't class anything like that as being offensive. Like you say though, some may deem it to be.
Dan™
As always - at least I can't think of any exceptions off the top of my head - I'm completely behind what FIFA and the governing bodies have ruled, when most seem to show abject dismay at their decisions. I don't get the outrage, but hey-ho, I can't complain since they seem to get everything right for me. Football's a sport, not a political messageboard or celebrity soap box. It does irk on the topic of free speech and all that, but again, I don't see football as a medium for sharing personal/political/religious views. If there was a serious enough matter that a player wanted to get out there then I'm sure they would take the sanctions to be able to make their point known. Not only that, but these new rules would see to it that they'd receive even more coverage. Edited March 7, 2014 by Dan™
Spondon Owl
Pick on this... easy target as opposed to rooting out diving and play acting which is widespread and brings the game into disrepute... well done all involved.
pauli
They should do something about German striker Miroslav Klose' rather rude gesture that he does after scoring too...

NIOwl
Makes sense. Obviously certain slogans would have to be banned, but there's no point bothering with the what's alowd and what isn't debate, just ban it altogether, no harm done. OxonOwl
Not really. Just allow it as is now but anything offensive and they face punishment. They're trying to take all of the fun out of the game. That's it though. Define offensive. Some things are obvious, some obviously not. But many might be in a grey area. It is easier just not to have to make the judgment call. Ever the pessimist
I have no problem with them. Especially when in circumstances like this: Yep. Even forgive him for the lack of apostrophe there given the circumstances.Still can't believe he played that game. My admiration for him went up about 1000000% after that.
