senwar
We've just booked digs in Na'arch for our last match at Ipswich. Anyone got any tips on cheap train? At the moment I've worked out Sheffield to Peterboro £10.40, Peterborough to Norwich £11. Fair enough, pleased with that and that gives us Friday night in Norwich then we'll head over to Ipswich in the morning. But on the way back, Ipswich to Sheffield is either ridiculously priced unless we get a train via Ely that takes 4.5hrs (£17 each). Happy to pay up to about 60 quid in total. Any other tips re: splitting the journey? I've looked at tickety split and all it comes up with is the via Ely option
southportdc
Don't get on the Liverpoool/Sheffield-Norwich train it is evil and bad and breaks down and just avoid it. Walk.
acquiescefc
get a sail/rail to dublin for around 38 quid if nothing else. you can make your own way to holyhead, via say Sheffield.

Lee A
Ipswich to Peterborough as a single journey at 3.58pm, gets in to Peterborough at 5.39pm ( £23 ) Then book Peterborough to Sheffield at 5.54pm, gets into Sheffield at 7.21pm ( £18 ) 3 and a half hours for £40 roughly, not too bad that, obviously the game will finish around 2.10 though so bit of boozing to be done in pub before the train Edited February 20, 2014 by Lee A
senwar
Managed to sort it all out thanks (close to what you've said above Lee just got it cheaper - so cheers too). Works out at £50 for the whole journey each. Not bad overall that.
Lee A
Bargain, good work Still got to sort mine out, its a bloody good away day Ipswich but the early kick off is a real spanner
senwar
Ended up taking a gamble on 8 of us going (only 5 confirmed at the mo but will deffo be 6). It worked out the same for 6 tickets as it did for 8 on some of the legs so just booked 8 for the whole journey. If 8 of us go that'll be £42 each, if not still only £56 for 6 of us and may be able to sell the Ipswich-Sheffield pair anyway to recoup a bit. Yeah the kick off time is a real ballache. Was very close to booking the Saturday night stay a while back. Good job I didn't. Ended up with Travelodge triple rooms for £33 as well. Will need another room if 8 do go but the other 2 can sort that. Not a bad weekend for £53 for travel and digs if 8 do go.

Lee A
ouch. at that price, will we take that many IF we mid table'ish? We always turn out in good numbers for the last away day even if the season hasn't been the most exciting ( Bristol Rovers a few years ago was pretty good ) That was a 3pm game though, think the fact its an early kick off might reduce the numbers a bit this time though
