Leaping Lannys Perm
Update: (It's a little gruesome though) The doctor came round this morning and explained why the operation took longer than expected. It turns out there was a lot more damage than initially expected. As well as the endometriosis itself, there were a significant amount of adhesions. Basically as the Endo bleeds you end up with sticky old blood floating around the abdomen. This can then attach itself to internal organs. In my wife's case all of her organs were essentially stuck together. This is what caused her all the pain, she couldn't move properly without the stuck together organs ripping apart. The good news though is that, despite the serious nature of the illness, the operation is keyhole and therefore recovery is very short. She woke up this morning feeling significantly better. She is still very sore as you would expect of anyone who has just had a 3 hour surgery, but this pain is essentially nothing for someone who is used to living every day in agony. As a result they have actually released her today and she will be fit to go back to work in a week. Needless to say we are all mighty relieved and hoping to get back to some sort of normality. Thanks again for all your kind words. LLP.
