Had a decent write up in the recent friendly against Harrogate....

Harrogate Town and Wednesday provided the large pre season crowd with a feast of attacking football.

After an even first ten minutes, Town had a lucky let off when a powerful drive from Charlie Dawes struck his team mate Kahil Lambin and rebounded off the upright.

Town, prompted by playmaker Michael Woods, hit back strongly and a teasing cross from Craig Nelthorpe was just inches too high for Chris Hall.

Two goals in two minutes brought the crowd to its feet.

Firstly, a penetrative run by Mani Dieseruvwe, set up Lambin, who made no mistake from close range.

Town hit back within a minute, when Cameron Dawson could only parry Nelthorpe’s stinging drive into the path off skipper Anton Brown, who swept majestically home.

Wednesday were playing some brilliant attacking football and Craig MacGillivray did well to turn a Dawes shot round the post.

Town were giving as good as they got and Nelthorpe latched on to a Woods pass and blasted a piledriver straight at Dawson, before Dwayne Samuels tested the visiting keeper in similar fashion.

Unfortunately for Town the dependable,Leigh Franks, gifted the lead back to Sheffield, when he unluckily turned a vicious Dawes cross into his own net.

Town tried hard to level before the break with Woods firing a Nelthorpe pass over the bar.

Things looked black for Town, when three minutes after the break,Ayo Obileye, shot into the roof of the net after Town failed to clear a corner.

In true Town spirit they hit back strongly with Woods providing a chance for Adam Bolder who shot at Dawson.

However, two goals inside two minutes, restored parity for Town.

Ashley Worsfold broke through the middle after a mistake in the Wednesday defence and shot coolly inside the far post.

Within a minute Johnny Fenwick flattened Nelthorpe inside the area and Bolder strode forward to score with a textbook penalty into the top corner.

Although both sides tired in the humid conditions, the usual procession of substitutions ensured that standards never dropped.

Indeed, Town sub Alex Metcalfe could have presented Town with a late winner, but Dawson was equal to his low drive.
