Nah the local Sheffield press had got wind of it well before, he was at Middlewood Road and as i said a senior player expected to have him as a team mate so make of that what you will. Although, i've heard through an ex LUFC employee, now at Wednesday, that it was more the fact that Warnock didn't want him playing for SWFC than actually wanting for Leeds. Same with the lad on loan from Everton, made promises about appearances and opportunities at Leeds, (that he reneged on) to stop him resigning for Wednesday. Strange if true. A few years ago when we were in a mess, he signed a player for United that we'd been chasing for ages (Luke Beckett) just because he could. He then proceeded to never play him.
