Jones - Good Points and Bad Points

Recommended Posts

What are his good and bad points?

For me, good:

Tactically against better teams he can set us up to grind out a result

Experienced in the championship

Unflappable

Bad

Poor signings

Negative tactics even against crap teams

Poor team selection

Does not give goal scorers a run in the side

Boring

For me, good:

Tactically against better teams he can set us up to grind out a result - parks the bus!

Experienced in the championship - Not recently ok he's managed in the Championship a while ago but in his own admission it's changed. It's a lot tougher league now and he isn't cutting it.

Unflappable - for this read ARROGANT.

Bad

Poor signings - agreed

Negative tactics even against crap teams- agreed

Poor team selection - BAFFLING team selections

Does not give goal scorers a run in the side - do we have anyone that would fit an agreed definition of a 'goalscorer'?

Boring - monotone scouser!

So no good points?

I am not anti Jones but I struggled to find good points.

Honestly can't think of any in terms of 1st team performance. I just want to be entertained when watching football and win more games than we lose. I'm not that bothered about reaching the prem again but am bothered about playing good attacking football. I look to the manager and his recruitment of players, his tactics, his ability to get the best from the players he has, his general organisation and leadership and I can't honestly see what good points Jones brings to our club.

I expect Wednesday to stay up on the last day but don't want any hysteria attached to this about how fantastic it is or what a great job the manager has done or now we can plan and look forward to next season etc etc.

That in my view would be to paper over the cracks. You don't go down to (hopefully) avoiding relegation on the last day of the season as some kind of bad luck. You make your own luck and shape your own destiny.
