vulva
See if Phil Neville fancies a challenge. Make him captain, get him on the coaching ladder and build the side round him.

Guest Sweet&TenderOwl
I doubt MM would or we as a club would anytime soon, unless someone with more money came in for us. But if he did go for it or we were sold on to someone who did go for it, I guess we still wouldn't throw money around with the fair play rules and all. I'd imagine the likes of Charlie Austin, Dwight Gayle, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Aan Judge, Johnnie Jackson, Andy Reid, Kazenga Lua Lua, Matt Phillips, Liam Trotter, Chris Burke, would be the types of players we should look at to be more competitive in this League? If only we had the money to get more quality. I'd imagine we'd also look at bringing in some quality Premier League season long loan's and a pacey centre-back too. That's of course if we had the money. We can all dream. However, I guess we'll be in the market for more cast-off's, cheap options, freebie's and loanee's again though, with a couple of has-been's and unknowns thrown into the mix? Loppy
Boothroyd's available... Seriously would probably depend who goes down. If Wolves and Blackburn fell I wouldn't mind us picking up one or two of their players. Dann, Olsson, Hanley or Goodwillie, or Hamill, Ebanks-Blake or Doyle. Batth and Rhodes could probably do a job too.
airborne_rat_of_s6
Sure one thing is clear from this season, buying a load of players for 50p each then having to bring a load of loans in to replace them doesn't make financial sense. We have the basis of a decent side -just hope DJ's doesn't go mad at pound land again and we are in the same boat in 12 months. Would be nice to bring in a few very good quality players-Centre half, left wing, central midfield and striker x 2 to bring on the younger players we have
Bluesteel
I'm not sure if we can spend much more under the new rules can we? Unless we increase our revenues. It's more about recycling the wages we free up from loans going back or releasing others from our league 1 side. Hopefully the likes of Palmer, McCabe, Corry, Lee and Maguire will all be stronger next season. I usually have an idea of who id like us to bring in, but I'm not sure this year as I think the quality players available will be sought by most of the league. Perhaps someone like Adomah from relegated Bristol, or Baldock ( if he isn't crocked). I think we will need to think outside the box a bit and look for bargains. Stoop
No scatter gun recruitment like last summer. Just 4 quality proven championship players will do
horny owl
MM won't give DJ too much money to spend after the sh!te he wasted money on last year Three or four good signings could get us comfortably in mid table and there may be plenty of decent quality players looking for clubs this summer as clubs trim their squads. Handball_!!
Didn't MM say in his latest interview that he threw another £6m at us this year. I'm just wondering what sort of figure constitutes 'going for it'? I think he's 'going for it' already.

That's making good for DJ's recruitment spree in the summer, the one which maked AI look like someone who had a great eye for a player.
Guest wilyfox
I'd still want Chris Burke and Johnnie Jackson. They'd be freebies, but their wages would be costly, no doubt. That's where I'd put the cash.
shandypants
DJ needs to 'wield the axe' first and move on some of the 'deadwood'. Four crap players out could equate to the wages of a mega player. We also need to move on some of our first team and regular substitutes if we are to advance. We have the basis of a good side. We should keep the effective players and move on the mediocre ones. My personal opinion is that DJ and MM will look to recruit players with potential to develop into good players rather than players that are the finished article. Baldock and Adomah are good shouts by bluesteel. Edited April 18, 2013 by shandypants
Guest wilyfox
Adomah would cost too much; and wasn't he courted by prem clubs in January?
shandypants
Adomah would cost too much; and wasn't he courted by prem clubs in January? But there are ways and means. We have quite a few players that we can trade - players that were very good League One players; Semedo for example.
