@owlstalk
Dave Jones is actually the 3rd best manager since 1891 with a win percentage of 46.55% (only Harry Catterick 55.8% between August 1958 and April 1961 and Vic Buckingham with 47.01% between May 1961 and March 1964 have a better win ratio) (Stats come from Stuart Brown's research) Owlstalk Shop

Guest wilyfox
Not many, at the end of the day its a results based business. © David Flitcroft but it's not as simple as that. which division were we managed in? Did they take over a struggling team, or a team lying 3rd in DJ's case? How competitive is their working budget compared with teams around them? How long have/did they manage(d) us for? many things to consider...

G.B.OWL49
Lies, damn lies and statistics. The football being served up at present is utter garbage compared to the stuff served up by Wilko, Big Ron and Trevor Francis. Oh for those halcyon days. nebneeb
No there aren't The league in which the team is playing has no bearing on the achievement. A 46% ratio from L1 and Championship is better than 40% in the Premiership... The financial constraints the manager is working with have no bearing. Manager A has £100M budget for transfers and wages, Manager B has £10M. If they have the same win % the manager working with the 10x smaller budget is no better... Blah blah. mirodo
DJ's win ratio is based on results up to 18th November (see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sheffield_Wednesday_F.C._managers). By my reckoning, results since put him on a win ratio of 44.71%, which is exactly the same as Wilkinson achieved.
Lee A
The football being served up at present is utter garbage compared to the stuff served up by Wilko, Big Ron and Trevor Francis. Oh for those halcyon days. Agreed, although those joyous days were before football died. Have to wonder what equivalent players capable of that quality of football would cost in todays market, I'm guessing a lot more than we will ever be able to afford. No disrespect to the current crop, they work their socks off and make the most of what ability they do have, but give Jones the standard of player Big Ron had, I reckon he could get them playing decent football. Carbone
megsons the best He helped bring the feel good factor back to the club without doubt. Best manager? I'm not so sure. Remember, under him there was no scouting system, DJ mentioned this in the fan forum. Regularly did very negative substitutions that cost us games in my opinion. I couldn't possibly see him taking us far in this league, however I can see DJ doing so. It's a shame seeing as GM is a Wednesdayite.
