Kirkland Commanding His Area & Liera Needs To Learn How To Mark.

If it wasn't for Kirkland we could have been down already.

Yes Kirkland may be lacking in one or two things but overall he is class and certainly a contender for player of the season.

I'd like to think he'll get another year, but you're probably right Simon.

Jones has played him because he had to after Taylor failed to step up to the mark, not because he wanted to. If he'd have had another realstic option, Llera wouldn't have been playing. Shame, because him and Reda are my favourite players due to their committment levels.

Llera has done excellent on the whole this season.

Shame he won't be kept on.

Why won't he be kept on?

I do think DJ was forced to play Llera, but I also feel Llera 'made the place his own' by his overall improvement.....his passion alone puts him ahead of Taylor, not that I dont rate Taylor because I've never seen him play, but the team needed Lleras energy and his will to win.

He might get a year extension as back up to a younger centre back coming in, but then we have Taylor.....so doubtful.

Agree about Llera and Reda, their enthusiasm to push the team forwards can't be underestimated.

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, Llera and Gardner don't make a good partnership. Sure they've both turned in some heroic performances but Llera particularly, often fails to pick up his man. As a pairing there isn't that understanding of who is dropping off or which man is picking up which. Maybe it's down to Llera having to play on the right side whilst being left footed. It's not ideal I know, but there are plenty of left footed partnerships that do look secure. All I know is that although we don't really concede many goals, mainly down to sacrificing attacking options, we do still concede a high percentage of headers in the six yard box. However I'm sure this is something DJ will deal with in the summer.

I think you make a very valid point about securing the defense and having to sacrifice attacking options as a result.

The get this relegation threat over and done with and then I am sure the coaching staff will be dealing with the issue you pin-point.  If it can be sorted and we can look to secure the sevices of a more creative midfielder (maybe that's Corry/McCabe) then we can look forward with plenty of optimism next season
